  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Modest production in blowout loss

Samuel recorded five receptions on six targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 38-14 loss to the Seahawks. He added one rush for three yards as well as one kick return for 30 yards. No Commanders offensive skill-position player had a particularly strong showing in Sunday night's loss, though Samuel did lead the team in both targets and receptions. His most significant contribution was a 19-yard gain that came primarily after the catch late in the third quarter. Samuel may still be slowed by a heel injury, having logged three straight games with 45 yards from scrimmage or fewer. His chance of turning things around moving forward is also complicated by the likely absence of Jayden Daniels (arm).

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Minuscule production in return

Samuel (heel) brought in three of six targets for 11 yards and rushed once for one yard in the Commanders' 28-7 loss to the Chiefs on Monday night. Samuel's return from a one-game absence did next to nothing to boost the offense, one that was led by QB Marcus Mariota due to Jayden Daniels' (hamstring) absence. The veteran wideout tied a season low in receiving yards, and he has an anemic 7-26-0 line on 11 targets over his last two appearances overall. Samuel could be a primary beneficiary if Daniels is able to return for Sunday night's Week 9 matchup against the Seahawks.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Good to go for Week 8

Samuel (heel) doesn't have a designation ahead of Monday night's game against the Chiefs. Samuel was able to play through a heel injury during the Commanders' Week 6 win over the Chargers, but it prevented him from playing against the Cowboys in Week 7. The seventh-year pro was able to string together a full week of practices, and he and fellow wideout Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) will both suit up against Kansas City on Monday. The returns of Samuel and McLaurin will give the Commanders a much-needed boost on offense with Marcus Mariota under center after Jayden Daniels (hamstring) was ruled out for Week 8.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Logs full practice Thursday

Samuel (heel) practiced in full Thursday. The same can be said for fellow WR Terry McLaurin (quadriceps), signaling that Washington's top options at the position are past their respective health concerns ahead of Monday's game at Kansas City. Samuel sat out Week 7 due to a lingering heel injury but was spotted performing hard cuts during individual drills at Thursday's session, according to Commanders writer Ben Standig.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Trending in right direction

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday that Samuel (heel) is "trending right" for Monday's game against the Chiefs, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Quinn said that Samuel and Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) are both expected to practice throughout Week 8 as Monday's road matchup at Kansas City approaches. Washington's first official practice report will be released Thursday, at which point Samuel is on track to be listed as at least a limited participant. He wasn't able to suit up Week 7 versus the Cowboys despite having played through his heel injury the prior two games. Meanwhile, the status of quarterback Jayden Daniels (hamstring) remains uncertain, meaning Marcus Mariota could step into the starting lineup versus the Chiefs.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Won't play against Dallas

Samuel (heel) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Samuel was able to draw the questionable tag for Week 7 after logging a limited practice Friday, but the seventh-year wideout will not travel with the team to Dallas due to a lingering heel injury. The Commanders will be without Samuel, Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Noah Brown (groin) for Sunday's NFC East tilt, which leaves Luke McCaffrey, rookie fourth-rounder Jaylin Lane and Chris Moore as the top wideouts in the passing game for Jayden Daniels. Tight end Zach Ertz would also be in line for more work on offense in the absence of Samuel, but the former is listed as questionable for Week 7 due to foot and shoulder injuries. Samuel's next opportunity to play is Week 8 against the Chiefs on Monday, Oct. 27.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Sits out practice again

Samuel (heel) did not practice Thursday. Samuel managed to play through his heel injury in Washington's last two games, but his status now looks legitimately up in the air for Week 7 after back-to-back missed practices. It's possible the Commanders are simply taking a cautious approach to Samuel's activity level, but he may have to return as at least a limited participant Friday in order to have a realistic shot at suiting up for Sunday's road matchup against the Cowboys. Meanwhile, Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) was listed as limited in Wednesday's practice but downgraded to being deemed a non-participant Thursday.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Listed as non-participant

Samuel (heel) is listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice report. He played through the same injury the past two games, putting up an 8-96-1 receiving line in Week 5 before slumping to 4-15-0 in Week 6. Samuel topped a 70 percent snap share in both games, but the Commanders might ease up on his workload some if the heel continues to give him trouble and WR Terry McLaurin (quad) is available to pick up slack. McLaurin is returning to practice this week, but it isn't yet clear if he'll be ready for Sunday's game at Dallas. Samuel also needs to be monitored, and there will be serious concern if he doesn't return to practice by Friday.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Toughs out heel injury in loss

Samuel (heel) secured four of five targets for 15 yards and rushed once for minus-1 yard in the Commanders' 25-24 loss to the Bears on Monday night. Samuel wasn't at 100 percent, and although Jayden Daniels kept him involved, the veteran receiver couldn't do much with his opportunities. Samuel posted his second-lowest receiving yardage total of the season, but his injury seemed to play a role. The seven-year pro will look to get healthier ahead of a key Week 7 road matchup against the Cowboys on Sunday.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Expected to play Monday

Samuel (heel) is expected to be active for Monday's game against the Bears, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The Commanders haven't yet made an official decision about Samuel's status since listing him as questionable on Saturday's injury report, per Commanders writer Ben Standig, but he appears to be trending in the right direction for Monday Night Football. As such, the final word on his availability may not arrive until roughly 90 minutes prior to an 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. With wide receivers Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Noah Brown (groin/knee) already ruled out for Week 6, Samuel looks positioned for a significant workload as Washington's clear No. 1 WR if cleared to suit up.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Questionable for MNF

Samuel (heel) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Bears, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports. Samuel managed just one limited practice Friday during Week 6 prep as he tends to a bruised heel, but he has a chance to play Monday, unlike fellow WRs Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Noah Brown (groin/knee), both of whom have been ruled out. Coach Dan Quinn told Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post on Saturday that the Commanders will "take it into Monday" regarding Samuel's availability, but ultimately his status may not be confirmed until about 90 minutes before an 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Looking like game-time decision

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Saturday that the team will "take it into Monday" regarding the availability of Samuel (heel) versus the Bears, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Samuel played through his bruised heel last week and has been practicing in a limited capacity, and it appears as though he'll be officially listed as questionable with the release of Saturday's injury report, but that his status won't be made official until Monday. At the latest, fantasy managers will gain clarity at least 90 minutes prior to Monday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff against Chicago. With Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Noah Brown (groin/knee) both already ruled out for Monday Night Football, the state of Washington's passing game will largely rest on Samuel's availability. Behind him on the depth chart are wideouts Luke McCaffrey, Jaylin Lane and Chris Moore, as well as practice-squad man Tay Martin.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Listed as limited

Samuel (heel) is listed as a limited participant on Friday's practice report. The Commanders didn't actually practice Friday but estimate that Samuel would've participated if they had. He played through the same injury last week, catching eight of 11 targets for 96 yards and a touchdown in a game where no other Commander got more than two targets. Samuel likely will play again Monday against the Bears.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Leading receiver with TD

Samuel finished with eight receptions on 11 targets for 96 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Chargers. Samuel overcame a heel injury during the practice week to lead a shorthanded Washington receiver room Sunday. The star acquisition led his new club in targets, receptions and receiving yards while catching QB Jayden Daniels' only passing touchdown of the contest. The 29-year-old has turned back the clock in 2025, generating 346 yards of offense and four total touchdowns through five games. Even if No. 1 wideout Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) returns against the Bears next Monday, Samuel's consistent production makes him a must-start asset in fantasy for Week 6.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Back at practice

Samuel (heel) returned to practice Friday, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports. Samuel was one of three Commanders wide receivers -- also, Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Noah Brown (groin/knee) -- to miss practice Wednesday and Thursday, but the former was the only one to make the trip with the team to Los Angeles ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers. First, Samuel was seen doing some extra stretching Friday before catching passes from WRs coach Bobby Ingram. After that, Samuel took part in individual drills, indicating that he'll be at least a limited participant to cap Week 5 prep. Washington's final injury report of the week will reveal Samuel's odds to suit up this weekend.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: WRs to Start

We'll see if Jayden Daniels (knee) can play in Week 3 against the Raiders, but I like Samuel as a No. 2 Fantasy receiver in all leagues even if Marcus Mariota starts. Samuel has stepped up as the No. 1 receiver for the Commanders with 14 catches for 121 yards and a touchdown on 18 targets against the Giants and Packers, and he also has a rushing touchdown. Terry McLaurin will eventually start to be more productive, but I would only use him in three-receiver leagues against the Raiders, even though this is a favorable matchup. Three receivers have already scored at least 15.9 PPR points against Las Vegas this season, and hopefully Samuel will stay hot in Week 3.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Scores late TD in loss

Samuel secured seven of eight targets for 44 yards and a touchdown and returned two kickoffs for 78 yards in the Commanders' 27-18 loss to the Packers on Thursday night. The Commanders' air attack was mostly stuck in neutral for a significant portion of the night, but Samuel was able to offer some solace to fantasy managers by recording 12- and 10-yard grabs on Washington's final scoring drive. The latter play also resulted in Samuel's second touchdown in as many games in a Commanders uniform, and he's now encouragingly logged 18 targets through his first two games with Jayden Daniels. Samuel next takes aim at the Raiders defense in a Week 3 home matchup on Sunday, Sept. 21.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Leading receiver in team debut

Samuel caught seven of 10 targets for 77 yards while scoring a 19-yard touchdown on his only rushing attempt in Sunday's 21-6 win over the Giants. Samuel gave the Commanders some breathing room with a 19-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to extend Washington's lead to 21-6. He also led the team in targets, catches and receiving yards, while no teammate had more than five targets, three catches or 34 receiving yards. Samuel's set to be a key playmaker for the Commanders after coming over from San Francisco in an offseason trade. Up next for Samuel is a Week 2 trip to Green Bay on Thursday.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Sleeper WRs

We'll see how Terry McLaurin does in Week 1 after being out for most of the preseason while dealing with his contract. All that missed practice time for McLaurin allowed Samuel to develop a solid rapport with Jayden Daniels, and hopefully, that will be evident in this game against the Giants. Samuel should be started in all three-receiver leagues, and he's not a bad option in two-receiver leagues as well. I also wouldn't be shocked if Samuel is better than McLaurin in this game.

  • Commanders' Deebo Samuel: Gains 19 yards on first drive

Samuel took one carry for 19 yards in Monday's preseason game against the Bengals. Samuel got the ball on the first snap of Washington's four-play, 74-yard TD drive -- after which Samuel, Jayden Daniels and some other starters didn't play. With Terry McLaurin (contract) still unavailable, Samuel has been Daniels' top target throughout training camp, portending a featured role in Washington's Week 1 game plan against the Giants.
