Raiders' Taron Johnson: Dealt to Las Vegas
The Bills traded Johnson and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Raiders in return for a 2026 sixth-round pick Sunday, Vincent Bonsignore of the California Post reports.
Johnson was slated to be released by Buffalo ahead of the new league year, but the team was able to find a last-minute trade partner. The cornerback is coming off a 2025 campaign during which he compiled 57 total tackles (34 solo) and four passes defensed over 13 regular-season contests. Johnson now will compete for a starting role in the secondary with Las Vegas in 2026.

Bills' Taron Johnson: Bills set to part ways
The Bills are slated to release Johnson, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Johnson, who the Bills took in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, is coming off a 2025 season in which he recorded 57 tackles in 13 regular-season games (including eight starts). The 29-year-old slot cornerback should have little problem catching on elsewhere in free agency.

Bills' Taron Johnson: Down year in 2025
Johnson posted 57 tackles (34 solo) and four pass defenses over 13 regular-season games in 2025 with the Bills.
Johnson failed to record an interception for the second time in three seasons, and his 57 combined tackles were his lowest output since 2019 (50 tackles across 12 regular-season games). The veteran still played a key role in the Bills' secondary as the nickel corner, and after sitting out of the team's regular-season finale against the Jets in Week 18 for rest purposes, Johnson should be a full go for this Sunday's AFC wild-card game against the Jaguars.

Bills' Taron Johnson: Good to go Week 17
Johnson (quadriceps) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's tilt against the Eagles.
Johnson has been managing a quad injury for the past two weeks, but he was able to play last Sunday against Cleveland and will do so again this weekend versus Philadelphia. He upgraded to a full practice Friday after being deemed limited the first two days of the week, so he shouldn't have any limitations Sunday. Johnson has logged 54 tackles and four defensed passes through 12 contests, though he's yet to notch a sack or an interception.

Bills' Taron Johnson: Limited in practice Thursday
Johnson (quadriceps) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Johnson is dealing with a quadriceps injury he likely suffered in the Week 15 win over the Patriots. The slot cornerback was able to log a full walkthrough practice Wednesday with the injury, but he was only a limited participant in Thursday's session. The starter will have one more session to attempt to elevate his practice participation in an effort to potentially avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Browns. If Johnson cannot suit up, Cam Lewis will likely take over slot-cornerback duties for the Bills' defense.

Bills' Taron Johnson: Ready for Sunday
Johnson (quadriceps) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Browns.
Despite downgrading from a full practice Wednesday to a limited session Thursday, the 29-year-old has moved past his quadriceps injury in time to suit up Sunday. Johnson has appeared in 11 games for Buffalo this season, recording 49 total tackles and four passes defensed. He's expected to operate as the Bills' top slot corner in the Week 16 contest.

Johnson recorded five tackles (three solo) and one pass breakup in Buffalo's loss to Houston on Thursday night.
It was Johnson's second game back from a groin injury. He made the start against Houston and logged 70 percent of the defensive snaps for the Bills, with 76 percent of those coming as the slot cornerback. Johnson has appeared in eight games this season, recording 36 tackles (25 solo) and a trio of pass breakups.

Bills' Taron Johnson: Cleared for Week 11
Johnson (groin) is active for Sunday's tilt against Tampa Bay.
Johnson has been battling a groin issue and missed each of Buffalo's past two games. However, he'll be able to return Sunday after logging an LP/FP/LP practice progression this week. Johnson should return to his usual role as the Bills' starting slot cornerback, which could push Cam Lewis back to a rotational role.

Bills' Taron Johnson: Questionable for Sunday
Johnson (groin) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Buccaneers.
Johnson downgraded from a full practice session Thursday to a limited session Friday, suggesting he's trending in the wrong direction ahead of Sunday's matchup. The veteran slot cornerback has missed the past two games with a persisting groin injury. If he is unable to suit up Sunday, Cam Lewis (calf) and Ja'Marcus Ingram will likely once again share snaps in the slot cornerback role against the Buccaneers.
