Vikings' Jamal Adams: Move to IR official
The Vikings placed Adams (quad) on injured reserve Monday.
Head coach Kevin O'Connell informed reporters Monday that Adams suffered a right quad tendon tear during the Vikings' 13-10 preseason win over the Giants on Saturday. It's a brutal blow for the 30-year-old veteran, who joined the Vikings in late July and shifted from a secondary position to linebacker to bolster the defense led by coordinator Brian Flores. Adams will turn his focus toward rehab and recovery with an aim to be fully healthy for the 2027 campaign.

Vikings' Jamal Adams: Done for season
Adams suffered a season-ending right knee injury in the Vikings' 13-10 preseason win over the Giants on Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Adams signed with Minnesota in late July, and he was looking to build off of a 2025 campaign in which he played a career-high 17 regular-season games with the Raiders, recording 45 total tackles (30 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and a forced fumble. The 30-year-old now will shift his focus to rehabbing his knee injury, and he'll likely be placed on injured reserve with the Vikings in the near future.

Vikings' Jamal Adams: Diagnosed with right knee injury
Head coach Kevin O'Connell said after Saturday's 13-10 preseason win over the Giants that Adams has been diagnosed with a right knee injury, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
It looked like a non-contact knee injury for Adams, who sustained the injury during the first quarter of Saturday's exhibition game. O'Connell relayed to reporters that initial imaging on Adams' right knee "didn't look good," but the Vikings will have a better sense of the severity of the injury once the veteran defender undergoes more tests. It's a brutal injury for Adams, who inked a one-year deal with the Vikings in late July to fortify the team's depth at linebacker.

Vikings' Jamal Adams: Carted off with injury
Adams (undisclosed) was carted to the locker room during the second quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Giants, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Adams appeared to suffer the injury early in the second quarter on the same play that Jaxson Dart found Malachi Fields for a 15-yard touchdown pass. Adams was initially evaluated by medical staff in the blue medical tent but has since been carted to the locker room, where he'll undergo further tests to determine the nature and severity of his injury.

Vikings' Jamal Adams: Lands in Minnesota
Adams signed with the Vikings on Monday, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.
The former Pro Bowler appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the first time since 2018 last season, making 45 tackles (30 solo) for the Raiders. Adams, a longtime safety, played linebacker for Las Vegas in 2025, and his positional versatility should give him a chance to earn a role for the Vikings as well. Minnesota plans to also deploy Adams as a linebacker, Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com reports.
