McDermott has either tested positive for the virus or come into close contact with someone who has. He'll need to pass the NFL's COVID-19 protocols before returning to the team.

The Jaguars waived McDermott (ankle) on Friday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
McDermott spent the 2019 season on injured reserve with an ankle injury. He's healthy now, but the 24-year-old offensive tackle was shown the door before cut day.

McDermott has been ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's preseason contest with Atlanta due to an ankle injury, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
The final ruling on McDermott's status for Thursday's contest gives us some insight to the severity of the injury, although it's hard to speculate exactly how serious it is. The 23-year-old is one of four centers currently on Jacksonville's roster.
