  • Browns' Cornelius Lucas: Ruled out Saturday with ankle issue

    Lucas has been declared out for the remainder of Saturday's preseason game against Philadelphia due to an ankle injury. Lucas limped to the locker room in the first half and isn't going to be able to return to the game. The veteran offensive lineman signed with Cleveland during the offseason and is slated to serve in a rotational role at tackle during the 2025 campaign, provided the ankle injury doesn't prove to be serious.

  • Browns' Cornelius Lucas: Heading to Cleveland

    The Browns agreed to terms with Lucas on a two-year, $10 million contract Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Lucas turns 34 years old in July and has 129 games of experience, including 54 starts. He appeared in 14 regular-season contests for the Commanders last season, making seven starts. In Cleveland, Lucas will serve as experienced veteran depth behind tackles Dawand Jones and Jack Conklin.

    Lucas (groin) does not have an injury designation for Sunday's wild-card contest versus Tampa Bay. Lucas suffered a groin injury Week 17 versus the Falcons and didn't play Week 18 against Dallas. He managed an LP/LP/FP progression during practice this week and is expected to take the field against the Buccaneers. Lucas started in seven of his 14 contests this season but has served mostly in a rotational role.

The left tackle has started five of the eight games in which he's played this season and has logged 61 percent of the Commanders' offensive snaps. Brandon Coleman's workload will likely increase as a result of Lucas' absence Sunday.
