Colts' Laquon Treadwell: Plays five snaps in preseason opener
Treadwell played five snaps on offense without showing up in the box score otherwise during the Colts' 13-13 preseason tie with the Patriots on Thursday.
Treadwell had been held out of training camp practices due to a hamstring injury but was cleared to play in Thursday's exhibition contest. He didn't see much playing time against New England despite the absences of both Alec Pierce (ankle) and Josh Downs (groin), and Treadwell is competing against the likes of Coleman Owen, E.J. Horton and rookie seventh-rounder Deion Burks for a depth spot on the Colts' 53-man roster. Indianapolis' next preseason game takes place Saturday, Aug. 22, against Atlanta.

Colts' Laquon Treadwell: Nursing hamstring injury
Treadwell (hamstring) was unavailable for practice with the Colts on Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Treadwell is dealing with an apparent hamstring injury, and head coach Shane Steichen noted the wide receiver is currently without a timetable to return. Treadwell signed a one-year deal with Indianapolis in March, and he's competing with the likes of rookie seventh-round pick Deion Burks and third-year pro Anthony Gould for a spot on the team's initial 53-man roster.

Colts' Laquon Treadwell: Gets one-year deal with Indy
Treadwell and the Colts agreed to terms on a one-year contract Friday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Treadwell opened the 2025 campaign on the Colts' practice squad before being signed to the active roster in early November. He was used almost exclusively on special teams and did not record a target across 10 regular-season games last year. Treadwell will likely reprise his role as a special teamer for the 2026 season.

Colts' Laquon Treadwell: Signed to active roster
The Colts signed Treadwell to the active roster from their practice squad Saturday, Amanda Foster of the team's official site reports.
Treadwell played exclusively on special teams during the two games he was elevated to the active roster for. However, the 2016 first-round pick could be in line for an increased role during Sunday's matchup versus the Falcons, as Anthony Gould is questionable with a knee injury.

Laquon Treadwell: Goes back to practice squad
Treadwell reverted to Indianapolis' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Treadwell was elevated ahead of Sunday's Week 9 contest against Pittsburgh and played 13 snaps, all on special teams. His chance to play came largely as a result of Anthony Gould (knee) missing the matchup. Treadwell has been elevated twice so far this season, though he's yet to log an offensive snap.

Colts' Laquon Treadwell: Elevated Saturday
The Colts elevated Treadwell to their active roster Saturday.
The Ole Miss product is now in line to join the Colts' active roster for the second time in the last three weeks. In the Week 7 matchup against the Chargers, Treadwell played 12 special-teams snaps and didn't record an offensive stat. Now back with the active roster, he's likely to play a similar role in the Week 9 matchup against the Steelers.

Colts' Laquon Treadwell: Elevated for first time
The Colts elevated Treadwell to the active roster from the practice squad Saturday.
Josh Downs (concussion) and Ashton Dulin (chest) have been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Chargers, leaving the Colts shorthanded at wide receiver. Treadwell has spent the entire season on the team's practice squad, with this elevation marking his first of the year.

Laquon Treadwell: Lands on Colts' practice squad
Indianapolis signed Treadwell to a practice-squad deal Thursday.
Treadwell missed out on making the Colts' 53-man roster, but he'll hope for opportunities to play this season while on the team's practice squad. The veteran wideout also spent most of last year on Indianapolis' practice squad but got into two regular season-games with the club. Treadwell's best NFL campaign came in 2021, when he caught 33 passes for 434 yards and a touchdown over 12 regular-season games with Jacksonville.

Laquon Treadwell: Doesn't make 53-man roster
The Colts released Treadwell on Tuesday, Amanda Foster of the team's official site reports.
Treadwell opted to stay in Indianapolis on a futures deal in January after spending most of the 2024 campaign on the Colts' practice squad, though he did play in two regular-season games. The veteran wideout didn't stand out across the Colts' first two preseason games, but he made his case for the 53-man roster during Saturday's preseason finale against the Bengals, when he caught six passes on as many targets for 116 yards and a touchdown. It ultimately wasn't enough for Treadwell to make the cut, but the 2016 first-rounder could stick around on the Colts' practice squad for a second straight year.

Colts' Laquon Treadwell: Standout effort in preseason finale
Treadwell brought in all six targets for 116 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' 41-14 preseason win over the Bengals on Saturday afternoon.
The 2016 first-round pick of the Vikings has never come close to living up to his pedigree, although Treadwell has found a way to remain gainfully employed in the NFL for nine seasons. Saturday, the veteran opened the game with the starters for the afternoon and made an impact by snagging a 22-yard grab on the opening possession and eventually recording a 49-yard touchdown grab just before halftime. Treadwell didn't log any targets over two regular-season games with the Colts in 2024 and has never topped 35 receptions or 434 yards in any campaign, but his 7-140-1 receiving line on 10 targets this preseason may be enough to secure him an end-of-depth-chart spot at final cuts.

Indianapolis signed Treadwell to a reserve/futures contract Monday.
Treadwell spent the 2024 campaign on the Colts' practice squad and was elevated for two regular-season games, but he wasn't targeted in either contest. The veteran wideout will spend the offseason competing to again earn a reserve role for the 2025 season.
