Commanders' Maurice Hurst: Headed to Washington
The Commander signed Hurst on Tuesday.
Hurst spent the past three seasons in Cleveland but is now headed to Washington. The 31-year-old recorded 39 tackles (21 solo), including 2.0 sacks, and an interception across 23 games during his tenure with the Browns and will spend the remainder of the preseason competing for a depth spot on the Commanders' roster.

Maurice Hurst: Gets look from Indianapolis
The Colts hosted Hurst (ankle) for a workout Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Hurst was limited to just eight regular-season games for the Browns in 2024, and he ended that campaign on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. He appears to have fully recovered from his injury, and the 2018 fifth-rounder is attempting to catch on with a team in need of depth at defensive tackle. The Colts could certainly add a player like Hurst, given that DeForest Buckner (neck) is on injured reserve and does not have a timeline for a return.

Browns' Maurice Hurst: Injuries derail 2024 campaign
Hurst (ankle) recorded 16 total tackles, including 0.5 sacks, over eight games in 2024.
The 29-year-old defensive tackle finished Cleveland's season on injured reserve, missing nine games due to an ankle injury. This appears to be a recurring theme for Hurst, who has now been sidelined for 45 regular-season games over the past four seasons in the NFL. Hurst played over 40 percent of the Browns' defensive snaps in three games this year, recording seven total tackles in those contests. He's now set to be an unrestricted free agent after signing a one-year, $1.8 million deal with Cleveland last offseason. Given his continued injury struggles, Hurst is likely to sign another one-year prove-it contract this offseason after missing more than half his team's games in 2024.

Browns' Maurice Hurst: Placed on IR
The Browns placed Hurst (ankle) on injured reserve Saturday.
Hurst was already ruled out for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh due to an ankle injury. However, the issue is serious enough that the 2018 fifth-round pick will be placed on injured reserve, which will require him to miss at least the next four regular-season games. That means Hurst could be activated off IR ahead of the Browns' regular-season finale against the Ravens on Sunday, Jan. 5. If Hurst doesn't play Week 18 and assuming the Browns don't make the playoffs, he would end his 2024 campaign with 16 tackles (nine solo), including 0.5 sacks, across eight regular-season games.

Browns' Maurice Hurst: Ruled out for Week 14
Hurst (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
Hurst was unable to practice Thursday due to an ankle injury, and the issue is serious enough for him to be sidelined for Sunday's AFC North clash. With Hurst out and Michael Hall (knee) on injured reserve, rookie seventh-rounder Jowon Briggs should see a significant increase in defensive snaps as the Browns' rotational defensive tackle behind starters Dalvin Tomlinson and Shelby Harris.
