Zane Gonzalez: Released by Miami
The Dolphins released Gonzalez (undisclosed) with an injury settlement Wednesday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Gonzalez was placed on the Dolphins' injured reserve list in early August due to an undisclosed issue. The kicker did not wish to be tied up on IR for the entirety of the 2026 season and, as such, has negotiated his release with an injury settlement. Gonzalez is now a free agent and is able to sign with any franchise once he regains his health.

Dolphins' Zane Gonzalez: Week-to-week with undisclosed injury
Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley said Monday that Gonzalez is considered week-to-week after suffering an undisclosed injury during Saturday's practice, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Though he had been competing with incumbent Riley Patterson for Dolphins kicking duties, Gonzalez's injury could effectively take him out of the running for the job. Gonzalez can be ruled out for at least Friday's preseason opener versus the Commanders, and he's not a safe bet to make it back for either of the Dolphins' final two exhibitions.

Dolphins' Zane Gonzalez: Joining Dolphins on one-year deal
Gonzalez has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Miami, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Gonzalez links forces with the Dolphins in advance of his age-31 season, coming off an impressive 2025 campaign in which he converted 19 of 22 field-goal attempts and 17 of 18 point-after tries while logging nine regular-season appearances with the Falcons. Miami released longtime kicker Jason Sanders in early March and faces the risk of losing Riley Patterson, who was tremendous as the team's starter in 2025, as a free agent. Gonzalez provides the Dolphins with a reliable starting option, though the team could still add competition at the position or work to re-sign Patterson.

Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Impresses in Atlanta
Gonzalez made 19 of 22 field-goal attempts and 17 of 18 point-after tries across nine regular-season games with the Falcons in 2025.
The 30-year-old from Arizona State was picked up by the Falcons in early November and operated as the team's top kicker for the remainder of the season. Gonzalez was reliable and converted on 86.4 percent of his field-goal attempts, with two of his three misses coming from beyond 50 yards. Set to hit unrestricted free agency this offseason, Gonzalez will likely be a candidate to return to Atlanta following a strong finish to the 2025 campaign.

Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Comes through with walk-off FG
Gonzalez made his only field-goal attempt and both of his extra-point tries Thursday in a 29-28 Week 15 win over Tampa Bay.
Gonzalez didn't attempt a field goal in the first half but made both of his extra-point tries. The Falcons attempted a two-point conversion on each of their second-half touchdowns, so Gonzalez went almost the entire third and fourth quarters without taking the field. However, Atlanta drove down the field in the final two minutes of game time and called upon Gonzalez for a 43-yard field-goal try with four seconds left on the clock. The veteran kicker converted to give the Falcons the win. Since taking over as the team's kicker Week 10 against Indianapolis, Gonzalez has made 11 of 13 field-goal tries and 10 of 10 PATs.
