To make room for Rex Burkhead -- who was activated off injured reserve -- the Patriots decided to cut ties with Tobin. The 28-year-old offensive tackle was signed in early November, though he failed to appear in a game for New England.

Tobin signed a one-year deal with the Patriots on Wednesday, Kevin Duffy of MassLive.com reports.
Tobin signed a deal with New England last March but failed to make the 53-man roster. The 28-year-old then signed with San Francisco in mid-September but was later released to make space for linebacker Reuben Foster. Tobin will now likely be the fourth tackle on the team behind Trent Brown, Marcus Cannon and LaAdrian Waddle.

The Eagles traded Tobin to the Seahawks on Monday.
The Seahawks surrendered a 2018 fifth-round pick and took back a 2018 seventh-round pick in addition to Tobin in the deal. Tobin started at right tackle and played 22 snaps for the Eagles in Thursday's preseason game against the Bills, but could be ticketed for a backup role with the Seahawks when the regular season begins.
