Frankie Hammond: Dropped by Jets
The Jets waived Hammond on Saturday, Ralph Vacchiano of SNY reports.
Hammond was competing among a plethora of wide receivers for a role on the Jets' roster, but ultimately fell short of making it through final cuts. Although he failed to make enough of an impression to make the roster, the 27-year-old could be a decent practice squad candidate should he clear waivers.

Jets' Frankie Hammond: Signs future contract with Jets
Hammond has signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets.
Hammond spent this past season on the Chiefs' practice squad. Since entering the league as an undrafted rookie in 2014, he has featured in 25 games, primarily making an impact as a punt returner. However, in order to make the Jets' roster ahead of next season, he may need to show more ability as a pass-catcher. To this point, Hammond boasts just four career receptions.

Frankie Hammond: Released by Chiefs, signs to practice squad
Hammond was cut by the Chiefs on Saturday but was signed to the team's practice squad Sunday, the Kansas City Star reports.
Hammond was considered a longshot to earn a roster spot, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that he didn't make it. However, he could still earn a promotion to suit up on Sundays should other wide receivers suffer an injury.

Chiefs' Frankie Hammond: Finishes preseason strong
Hammond reeled in five passes for 51 yards in the preseason finale against the Packers on Thursday.
A longshot to make Kansas City's 53-man roster, Hammond at least showcased his ability to other potential suitors. He's also contributed on special teams, making him an potentially attractive options for other clubs, but his run with the Chiefs will likely come to an end Saturday when the roster is trimmed.

Chiefs' Frankie Hammond: Posts solid effort in third preseason game
Hammond grabbed each of the three passes thrown his way in Saturday's preseason contest against the Bears.
His best effort of the preseason couldn't have come at a better time but it still may not be enough to earn him a spot on the 53-man roster. Hammond is no longer being utilized on special teams and has been passed by multiple receivers on the depth chart. Unless something drastically changes in the near future, he's likely headed for the free agent market.

Chiefs' Frankie Hammond: In danger of missing 53-man roster
Hammond has been passed by Tyreek Hill on the depth chart and could be in danger of missing out on the 53-man roster, Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports.
Hammond has had a rather forgettable preseason, while Tyreek Hill had been opening eyes with his speed and athletic ability. While there is still a ways to go in camp, the third-year wideout has some ground to make up.

Frankie Hammond: Promoted to active roster
Hammond was promoted to the 53-man roster Saturday.
Hammond has been on the Chiefs' practice squad, but with De'Anthony Thomas out Sunday against Buffalo, he'll join the active roster to serve as the fifth receiver. The Florida product saw time in all 16 games for Kansas City last season, catching four passes on 12 targets for 45 yards.
