Alonzo Russell: Let go by Giants
Russell was waived by the Giants on Sunday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Russell spent the 2018 season on the Giants' practice squad. The 26-year-old was activated for Week 17 against Dallas and saw the field on 15 snaps but was unable to record a statistic. Russell made a final push for a roster spot in New York's final preseason game -- catching five of 15 targets for 92 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner -- but ultimately fell short.

Giants' Alonzo Russell: Makes final bid for roster spot
Russell caught five of 15 targets for 92 yards and two touchdowns in Thursday's 31-29 win over the Patriots in the preseason finale.
Russell scored a 35-yard touchdown in the first quarter, then won the game with a 14-yard score on the final play of the fourth. The 26-year-old Toledo product is still a long shot to make the roster, but perhaps this heroic effort will convince Giants brass to keep him on board, at least while fellow wide receiver Golden Tate serves a four-game suspension to start the season.

Giants' Alonzo Russell: Moves to active roster
Russell was promoted from the practice squad Saturday.
Russell will take the place of Jawill Davis (knee) on the 53-man active roster. Davis' injury leaves the Giants without a suitable punt returner, but Corey Coleman appears set to fill in at the role while Russell will act as depth at the wide receiver position.

Giants' Alonzo Russell: Inks contract with Giants
Russell signed a contract with the Giants on Monday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Since going undrafted in 2016, Russell has bounced around between a few different practice squads, including the likes of Cincinnati and Arizona. He's been unable to earn a spot on an active roster, however, so despite signing with the Giants on Monday, there's a good chance he's a casualty of roster cuts as offseason and preseason activities commence over the next few months.

Alonzo Russell: Joins Arizona's practice squad
The Cardinals signed Russell to their practice squad Wednesday, Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
Russell, who went undrafted out of Toledo in 2015, spent last season on the Bengals' practice squad, but is still awaiting his NFL debut. He'll assume the spot on the Cardinals' practice squad that had previously belonged to fellow wideout Carlton Agudosi, who was promoted to Arizona's 53-man roster Tuesday.
