  • Dean Lowry: Not officially back with Pittsburgh

Lowry has now decided to take additional time to work his way back into shape after it was reported Sunday that he had re-signed with the Steelers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Despite not taking a physical, Rapoport added that Lowry has been fully cleared to return from a knee injury that sidelined him for all of last season. The 2016 fourth-round pick spent 2024 with the Steelers, appearing in 12 regular-season games and recording five total tackles and one pass defensed across 177 total snaps (148 on defense, 29 on special teams).

  • Steelers' Dean Lowry: Returning to Pittsburgh

Lowry (knee) is slated to sign with the Steelers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Lowry suffered a knee injury in early August 2025, rendering him unable to play for the entire season. The defensive end last played for the Steelers in 2024, producing five tackles, including 1.0 sacks, over a 12-game span. The 31-year-old should provide cheap and experienced depth to the Steelers' defensive line as the team prepares for the 2026 season.

  • Steelers' Dean Lowry: Lost for season

Lowry was placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury Saturday, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Lowry was in the mix for a roster spot as a depth option along the Steelers' defensive line. He'll now be lost for the season, though the details of the injury remain unclear.

  • Steelers' Dean Lowry: Off PUP list

Lowry (pectoral) returned to the team from the active/PUP list Sunday.

Lowry was placed on the list July 24. The defensive end signed with the Steelers in March after being released by the Vikings earlier that month. The veteran played in nine games last year before tearing his pectoral muscle and missing the rest of the season.

  • Steelers' Dean Lowry: Placed on PUP list

The Steelers placed Lowry (pectoral) on the active/PUP list Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Lowry was released by the Vikings on March 12 after appearing in just nine regular-season games before sustaining a torn pectoral muscle injury in 2023. He signed with the Steelers on March 25 to provide depth on the defensive line, but the 2016 fourth-round pick out of Northwestern will begin training camp on the sidelines. Lowry's most impactful season came in 2021 with the Packers, when he registered 42 tackles (24 solo), including a career-high 5.0 sacks, along with four passes defended and one fumble recovery across 17 regular-season games.

  • Steelers' Dean Lowry: Finds new home

Lowry (pectoral) signed a contract with the Steelers on Monday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

  • Vikings' Dean Lowry: Gets let go

Lowry (pectoral) was released by the Vikings on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Lowry joined Minnesota on a two-year deal last spring and was unable to make an impact with his new team. The Northwestern product appeared in nine games before suffering a torn pectoral muscle, which ended his season early, and recorded 14 combined tackles and a pass defended.

  • Vikings' Dean Lowry: Placed on injured reserve

The Vikings placed Lowry (pectoral) on injured reserve Monday, Craig Peters of the team's official site reports.

Lowry will now miss the remainder of the regular season due to a torn pectoral suffered during Sunday's loss to the Broncos. The Vikings are now thin at defensive end, as there's currently no healthy player at the position behind starters Jaquelin Roy and Jonathan Bullard.

  • Vikings' Dean Lowry: Done for year with torn pec

Coach Kevin O'Connell announced on Monday that Lowry will miss the remainder of the season with a torn pec, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

Lowry will require season-ending surgery after getting hurt in Sunday night's loss to the Broncos. The veteran lineman started four of the nine games he appeared in this season, seeing action on 40 percent of the defensive snaps. It's a blow to Minnesota's defensive line depth.

  • Vikings' Dean Lowry: Won't return Sunday

Lowry has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Broncos due to a pectoral injury.

Lowry sustained his injury in the first half of Sunday's matchup and will be unavailable down the stretch. Whether he'll be available against the Bears on Nov. 27 remains to be seen, but Jaquelin Roy and Khyiris Tonga could see increased playing time in Lowry's absence.

  • Vikings' Dean Lowry: Returns to full practice

Lowry (groin) was listed as a full participant in Wednesday's estimated practice.

Lowry logged a DNP and two limited practices during Week 10 prep and was unable to suit up against New Orleans this past Sunday. The Vikings didn't hold an official practice Wednesday, but his estimated status as a full participant bodes well for his chances of returning Sunday in Denver. Jaquelin Roy and Khyiris Tonga have seen a bit more work in Lowry's absence, and both will likely see a downturn in snaps with Lowry set to return.

  • Vikings' Dean Lowry: Won't play Sunday

Lowry (groin) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints.

Lowry was able to string together back-to-back limited practice sessions but was listed as doubtful for Sunday's contest. Jonathan Bullard is the most likely candidate for more defensive snaps, but Jaquelin Roy could see an uptick as well.
