Lance Dunbar: Cut by Rams
The Rams have released Dunbar, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The 28-year-old running back will thus look to take his change-of-pace talents elsewhere after logging 11 carries for 51 yards and a TD in four games this past season for the Rams. Though he only recorded one catch in that span, Dunbar previously displayed utility as a pass catcher during his five-year stint with the Cowboys.

Rams' Lance Dunbar: Scores in loss to 49ers
Dunbar rushed six times for 20 yards and a touchdown and caught one of his two targets for a yard during Sunday's 34-13 loss to San Francisco.
The first-year Ram never got a fair shake in his initial go around in Los Angeles. His season was derailed by a knee injury that landed him on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start the campaign, and the ailment contributed to him playing just 15 offensive snaps through only three games entering Week 17. Even with Sunday's touchdown, there probably aren't many postseason fantasy settings where Dunbar is a viable option. Additionally, he'll become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so his long-term outlook is up in the air heading into 2018.

Dunbar (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Myles Simmons of the Rams' official site reports.
Rams head coach Sean McVay has routinely kept only two running backs active on game days this season, and with Malcolm Brown (knee) shaking off an injury to return from a four-game absence, there wasn't room in the lineup for Dunbar. Even though Brown appears to be ahead of Dunbar on the depth chart, there won't be a path to fantasy utility for any of the team's reserve backs while bell cow Todd Gurley is healthy and productive.

Dunbar (knee) didn't play any snaps on offense in Sunday's 32-16 win over the Cardinals.
Todd Gurley played 55 of a possible 58 snaps, with Tavon Austin also getting a tiny bit of work in the backfield. Dunbar's role isn't shaping up as expected, in large part because Gurley has established himself as one of the top pass-catching backs in the league. The offseason plan may have featured Dunbar taking the field for obvious passing downs, but there's no way that comes to fruition unless Gurley suffers an injury.

Dunbar was sidelined last week after enduring a setback with the knee injury that kept him on the Physically Unable to Perform List for the first half of the season, but he looks to be inching closer to full health now. The 27-year-old logged full practices Thursday and Friday and is the lone backup running back active Sunday, signaling the Rams are comfortable enough with Dunbar's knee. That being said, unless lead back Todd Gurley succumbs to an injury during the contest, Dunbar is only expected to fill in occasionally on passing downs.

Dunbar (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
Full practices Thursday and Friday weren't enough for Dunbar to avoid an injury designation, but it nonetheless bodes well for his chances of returning from a one-game absence to suit up Sunday. With lead back Todd Gurley thriving as a pass catcher, it isn't clear exactly where Dunbar would fit into the Rams' game plans even if he managed to stay healthy for more than a few days. The third-down specialist has battled persistent knee issues throughout his career and has only made two appearances for the Rams this season, getting each of his five carries in garbage time of a blowout. Dunbar was held out for Sunday's 26-20 win over the Saints due to the injury.
