  • Chiefs' Donovan Smith: Ready for wild card

Smith (neck) has no injury designation ahead of Saturday's game against the Dolphins. Smith missed Kansas City's final five games of the regular season with a neck injury, but after a full practice session Friday, it seems as if he's been able to move past the issue. Expect the 30-year-old to assume his usual duties as the Chiefs' starting left tackle in Saturday's wild-card affair.

  • Chiefs' Donovan Smith: Missing another game

Smith (neck) has been ruled out for Sunday's clash against the Chargers, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports. Smith will miss his fifth straight contest due to a neck injury he suffered Week 13 against Green Bay. The offensive tackle was able to practice in full Wednesday but subsequently sat out both Thursday and Friday. It's unclear if Smith suffered a setback or if the team is just taking it easy with him since the Chiefs have nothing to play for Week 18 and are resting numerous starters.

  • Chiefs' Donovan Smith: Logs full practice Wednesday

Smith (neck) was a full participant in practice Wednesday. Smith has missed Kansas City's past four games due to a neck injury, but his full participation at practice Wednesday suggests that he's in line to return for the team's regular-season finale against the Chargers on Sunday. If that is indeed the case, Wanya Morris is likely to return to a backup role.

After logging a DNP at Friday's practice, the 30-year-old offensive lineman has been ruled out and he'll miss his third consecutive game Monday. Smith has started all 12 of the games he's appeared in this season, but in his stead, Wanya Morris is expected to get the nod at left tackle.

  • Chiefs' Donovan Smith: Ruled out for Week 14

Smith (neck) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest versus the Bills, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Smith suffered a neck injury in the team's loss to the Packers in Week 13, and he'll now be forced to sit out at least one week as a result. • Chiefs' Donovan Smith: Set to protect Mahomes

Smith agreed to a one-year, $9 million deal with the Chiefs on Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Smith spent the first eight years of his career in Tampa Bay while playing left tackle. Pelissero suggests he'll occupy the same role in Kansas City, which will in turn push fellow offseason addition Jawaan Taylor to the right side. The Chiefs have invested significantly in their offensive line this offseason, which should be good news for their already high-powered offense.

  • Donovan Smith: On way out of Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay will release Smith on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. The move will save Tampa Bay $9.95 million in cap space, and Smith now joins Leonard Fournette and Cameron Brate as cap casualties for the Buccaneers, who find themselves in rebuild mode following Tom Brady's retirement. When healthy, Smith, a 2015 second-round pick, was a mainstay at left tackle and should garner plenty of interest as a free agent this summer.
