McClure played seven games for the Redskins in 2017, recording two total tackles. The 25-year-old safety will subsequently be released once his injury settlement period is up.

McClure began the 2017 campaign with Lions' practice squad and ended it with the Raiders' practice squad. Sandwiched between those stints, he played seven games with the Redskins and recorded three tackles, although he mainly played on special teams.

It appears the hamstring injury that McClure sustained in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys is significant enough to keep him out for further contests, so the Redskins appear content to shut him down for the season in order to open up a roster spot for a healthy player. McClure's absence leaves D.J. Swearinger and Deshazor Everett as the team's only healthy safeties heading into the Week 9 matchup with the Seahawks.

McClure injured his hamstring in Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Brandon George of The Dallas Morning News reports.
McClure did not record a tackle in the game. With Montae Nicholson (shoulder) also banged up, the Redskins were down to two safeties at one point in Sunday's contest. Washington's defensive backfield will try to get healthy before traveling to Seattle in Week 9 to take on a red-hot Seahawks offense.
