Detroit signed Schofield (knee) to its practice squad Tuesday.
Schofield finally seems to be back to full strength after he was carted off the field with a knee injury back in January while playing for the Bears. He'll serve as guard depth for the Lions after Detroit placed Halapoulivaati Vaitai (back) on injured reserve Tuesday.

Schofield exited Sunday's loss to the Lions with the injury, and he was unable to return. His move to IR will end his season early, while opening up a potential roster spot for the team's Week 18 game against the Vikings.

Schofield was ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Lions with a knee injury.
Schofield went to the medical tent and was then carted to the locker room during the second quarter, according to Adam Hoge of AllCHGO.com. With Teven Jenkins (neck) also questionable to return versus Detroit, Dieter Eiselen has stepped in right guard for the Bears, according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com.

Schofield has been on the COVID-19 list since Oct. 19, but he's cleared the necessary protocols and will return to team activities. The veteran lineman lost his starting job before landing on the list, and it's unclear how he'll be utilized upon return.

Schofield was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
Schofield has either contracted the virus or came into close contact with an infected person. Either way, he'll need to pass the NFL's COVID-19 protocols before returning to team activities. His absence will hurt the team's offensive line depth, but he hasn't started a game since Week 2.

Chargers' Michael Schofield: Re-ups with Chargers for two years
Schofield agreed to terms Wednesday on a two-year contract with the Chargers , James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
Schofield was claimed off waivers by the Chargers last September and was expected to serve in a depth role, but endued up starting five games for the team in 2017. He should settle back into a reserve role in 2018 but could be given an opportunity to battle for the starting job at right tackle if Joe Barksdale is released.
