  • Colts' Anthony Castonzo: Retires from NFL

Castonzo (ankle) announced his retirement Tuesday, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.

The 32-year-old contemplated retirement last offseason before re-signing with the Colts on a two-year contract. He apparently won't play the second season, following a 2020 campaign in which he dealt with knee, ankle and oblique injuries, ultimately requiring surgery on the ankle. Castonzo's dozen starts in 2020 brought him up to 144 for his career, spanning the entire Andrew Luck era and then some. The Colts' offensive line otherwise remains strong, but they now have a major hole to address on the blindside. The decision to bring in 33-year-old Jared Veldheer at the end of the 2020 season suggests the team doesn't have much confidence in the likes of Chaz Green or Casey Tucker to replace Castonzo.

  • Colts' Anthony Castonzo: Moves to injured reserve

Castonzo (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Friday.

Castonzo is scheduled to undergo season-ending ankle surgery, so the shift to injured reserve was only a matter of time. Chaz Green is poised to work at left tackle for the Colts, and Joey Hunt was promoted from the practice squad to bolster the depth on the offensive line.

  • Colts' Anthony Castonzo: Done for season

Head coach Frank Reich said Wednesday that Castonzo will undergo season-ending ankle surgery, Stephen Holder of The Athletic reports.

Castonzo will be placed on IR in the near future. He started 12 games this season and has one year remaining on his contract. Chaz Green is expected to slot in at left tackle for the season finale against the Jaguars.

  • Colts' Anthony Castonzo: Confirmed out for Week 16

Castonzo (knee/ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday afternoon's game against the Steelers.

Castonzo appeared to be trending in the right direction upon logging a limited session Wednesday, but a reversal to no participation Thursday seemingly doomed the 32-year-old's Week 16 status. He was able to power through his knee issue to get the start last Sunday versus Houston, but now Chaz Green is expected to man the left tackle spot against Pittburgh's injury-depleted front seven.

  • Colts' Anthony Castonzo: Questionable against Steelers

Castonzo (knee/ankle) is questionable for the Colts' Week 16 matchup against the Steelers, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.

Castonzo has dealt with a knee injury since Week 12 but was able to play all 54 snaps against the Texans in Week 15. Though he seemed to be on a positive trajectory, Castonzo reportedly picked up an additional ankle injury in the lead-up to Week 16. He was unable to practice on Friday as a result, leaving his status for Sunday in doubt.

  • Colts' Anthony Castonzo: Ready to rock

Castonzo (knee) is officially active for Sunday's game against the Texans.

  • Colts' Anthony Castonzo: Good to go Sunday

Castonzo (knee) is active for Sunday's game at Las Vegas.

Castonzo was considered questionable with the knee injury but has been cleared to play Sunday. The 32-year-old missed one game with the MCL sprain and should reclaim his starting spot at left tackle following the quick recovery.
