Wembanyama ended with 14 points (5-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks across 17 minutes in Friday's 126-97 preseason win over Sacramento.
Wembanyama had his third consecutive double-digit preseason scoring performance Friday. He finished the preseason by averaging 13.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.3 steals over 19.8 minutes per contest. The 22-year-old should have plenty of motivation after the Spurs were defeated by the Knicks in the 2026 NBA Finals, so there's a good chance his name will be mentioned often in MVP conversations throughout the 2026-27 campaign.

Wembanyama finished with 19 points (9-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, three assists, two steals and four blocks across 23 minutes in Wednesday's 123-103 preseason win over Phoenix.
Wembanyama appeared in his third preseason game. While the 22-year-old played better Wednesday than he did in the other two contests, it still wasn't his best showing. Wembanyama hasn't shot the ball well throughout the preseason, though he should warm up at some point soon. The 2023 No. 1 overall pick is coming off his best campaign, averaging 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 3.1 blocks and 1.0 steals over 29.2 minutes per contest. However, he was limited to just 64 regular-season games after appearing in 46 in 2024-25.

Wembanyama (rest) will not play in Monday's preseason matchup against the Jazz, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
The Spurs planned to rest several regulars against Utah before the preseason began, so Wembanyama's absence appears to be a routine precaution rather than an injury-related concern. San Antonio will also sit Stephon Castle, De'Aaron Fox, Dylan Harper and Devin Vassell, among others. Wembanyama's next opportunity to play will come Wednesday against the Suns.

Wembanyama played a relatively modest role statistically, attempting just six shots while San Antonio limited its starters to first-half action. The abbreviated workload offered little reason for concern as San Antonio eased its franchise centerpiece into preseason competition. He should be one of the first players off the board in every fantasy draft and is expected to be a massive contributor on both ends of the court for the Spurs once the regular season begins Oct. 20 against the Thunder.
