The Grizzlies could retain Jarreau by signing him to a rest-of-season deal and waiving another player, but the team doesn't seem to be looking to go that route, as Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported Friday that Memphis will bring Zavier Simpson aboard on a 10-day deal to fill the vacant spot on the 15-man roster. Assuming Jarreau isn't re-signed prior to the Grizzlies' game Saturday versus the Magic, he'll likely link back up with the organization's G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle, with whom he had been playing before signing a pair of 10-day deals. During his time at the NBA level, Jarreau appeared in nine games for the Grizzlies and averaged 4.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 16.7 minutes.

If Jarreau sees action with the injury-depleted Grizzlies during the course of his 10-day deal, it would mark his first NBA action since he appeared in one game for the Pacers during the 2021-22 season. The 26-year-old guard has spent the entire 2023-24 campaign in the G League with the Memphis Hustle and Capital City Go-Go, averaging 14.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 25.0 minutes per game over 36 appearances between the two affiliates.

Jarreau has had ample playing time early in the G League season, as he's played at least 14 minutes in each of his first six appearances. Although he was unable to score in double figures for a second straight game Sunday, he's now averaging 7.5 points and 4.5 assists in 18.8 minutes per game with the Mad Ants.
