  • Montrezl Harrell: Signs full-season deal in Australia

Harrell has signed with the Adelaide 36ers for the remainder of the ongoing Australian NBL season, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

Harrell is averaging 15.7 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 55.6 percent from the field in his age-30 campaign. Scotto adds that Harrell will be eligible to sign with an NBA team in advance of the 2024-25 playoffs if suitors emerge.

  • Montrezl Harrell: Waived by Philadelphia

Harrell (knee) was waived by the 76ers on Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Harrell sustained a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee in early August and underwent surgery later that month. While he was unable to make Philadelphia's final roster this season, he's aiming to return to the court sometime after the All-Star break, so it's possible he will contribute for a team late this year.

  • 76ers' Montrezl Harrell: Undergoes successful surgery

Harrell (knee) underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair his torn ACL and meniscus, Justin Grasso of SI.com reports.

Harrell sustained the right knee injury in early August and will shift his focus toward a lengthy recovery process following Wednesday's procedure. It wouldn't be surprising to see him miss the entire 2023-24 campaign, which would leave Paul Reed and Mo Bamba as the top candidates to fill backup minutes behind star center Joel Embiid.

  • 76ers' Montrezl Harrell: Suffers knee injury

Harrell was diagnosed with a torn ACL and meniscus after undergoing an MRI on his right knee Wednesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Harrell re-signed with the 76ers this offseason on a one-year deal, but his status for the 2023-24 campaign is now in jeopardy. He was dealing with right knee swelling after a recent workout and opted to undergo an MRI which revealed a significant injury. While it's unclear exactly how long he'll be out, it's safe to assume he'll miss most, if not all, of next season. Harrell's expected absence leaves Paul Reed and Mo Bamba as the main center options behind starter Joel Embiid.

  • 76ers' Montrezl Harrell: Agrees to deal with 76ers

Harrell agreed to a one-year deal with the 76ers on Thursday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Harrell spent last season with the 76ers, playing just 11.9 minutes per game with averages of 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds. Harrell will likely compete with Mo Bamba for the backup center minutes behind Joel Embiid, but it's worth noting that Paul Reed is still a candidate to return in restricted free agency.

  • Montrezl Harrell: Opts for free agency

Harrell informed the 76ers on Wednesday that he will decline his $2.76 million player option for 2023-24 and become a free agent, Chris Haynes of Turner Sports reports.

The 2020 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award winner is opting to move on from the 76ers after he essentially fell out of former head coach Doc Rivers' rotation following the All-Star break during his lone season in Philadelphia. Over his 57 appearances this past season, Harrell averaged 5.6 points in 11.9 minutes per game on 59.8 percent shooting from the field, but he saw his rebound rate drop off considerably and lacks the rim-protecting abilities that most teams seek in backup centers. Harrell should land on a roster somewhere heading into training camp, though the 29-year-old could continue to struggle find a consistent rotation spot due to his limitations on the defensive end.

  • 76ers' Montrezl Harrell: Enters rotation Saturday

Harrell posted zero points (0-2 FG) and one rebound across five minutes during Saturday's 96-88 victory over the Nets in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

Harrell played five minutes as the backup center, limited by the fact the 76ers opted to run some small-ball lineups. Despite Joel Embiid (knee) missing the game, Harrell barely featured in the Game 4 victory. Paul Reed appears to have sewn up the starting spot as long as Embiid is sidelined, meaning Harrell should expect sporadic bursts at best.

  • 76ers' Montrezl Harrell: Drops eight points in seven minutes

Harrell supplied eight points (2-2 FG, 4-4 FT) in seven minutes during Thursday's 129-101 loss to the Heat.

Harrell's sporadic role continued Thursday, continuing what has been a rapid decline over the past couple of years. At this point in his career, he's been relegated to a depth piece.

  • 76ers' Montrezl Harrell: Woeful season continues

Harrell ended Monday's 116-111 loss to Denver with three points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and two rebounds across six minutes.

Harrell made it onto the court for just the third time in the past month, continuing what has been a rapid fall from grace. Barely a top-350 player for the season, Harrell's days of being fantasy relevant are well and truly behind him. It's hard to envisage a situation where he would ever play more than 15 minutes, making him a non-factor in basically every format moving forward.
