Torkelson isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Torkelson will get a day off Saturday after going 0-for-7 with five strikeouts through the first two games of the series. His absence will put Colt Keith at first base, allowing Hao-Yu Lee to start at the hot corner.
Torkelson went 2-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Cubs.
Torkelson hit his 19th home run of the season in the second inning against Chicago starter Colin Rea. The slugging first baseman has now gone deep five times across his last 11 games as he continues to find his power stroke following a slow start to the season. Torkelson is seeking his second straight 30-homer campaign and third overall in his MLB career.
