  • Mets' A.J. Ewing: Three hits, homer in win

Ewing went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an RBI double and an additional run scored in Sunday's 8-1 win over Atlanta. Ewing came a triple shy of a cycle Sunday while logging the second three-hit game of his major-league career. The rookie outfielder put the Mets ahead with his RBI double in the first inning before extending the lead to 5-1 in the fifth with a home run, his second of the year, off Bryce Elder. Ewing has gone 13-for-38 (.342) over his last 11 games, boosting his slash line to .267/.339/.381 through 120 plate appearances this season with 14 runs scored, nine RBI and seven stolen bases.

  • Mets' A.J. Ewing: Two steals in win

Ewing went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Friday's 5-0 win over the Padres. Ewing has gone 11-for-43 (.256) with five steals over his last 11 games. The outfielder's speed is promising as long as he can get on base enough to use it. He's batting .253 with a .659 OPS, seven steals, one home run, six RBI, 11 runs scored, one double and one triple across 90 plate appearances. The one red flag in Ewing's numbers so far is his 32.2 percent strikeout rate, which could limit his effectiveness if the hits stop falling.

  • Mets' A.J. Ewing: Drives in two runs vs. Miami

Ewing went 2-for-4 with a two-run single, a steal and a run scored during the Mets' 9-7 extra-inning win over the Marlins on Friday. Ewing gave the Mets an early 2-0 lead after his single to center field brought both Bo Bichette and Juan Soto home, and Ewing collected a steal and came home to score in the same frame. It was his fourth multi-hit game of the season. Since making his major-league debut May 13 against the Tigers, Ewing is slashing .268/.359/.357 with four steals, one home run and six RBI over 66 plate appearances.

  • Mets' A.J. Ewing: Out of lineup against lefty

Ewing is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals. Ewing started each of the first seven games upon his promotion, but the left-handed batter will get a day off Tuesday as the Nationals send southpaw Foster Griffin to the bump. Tyrone Taylor is covering center field for the Mets.

  • Mets' A.J. Ewing: On base four times in win

Ewing went 1-for-1 with three walks, a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Yankees. While the rookie was hitting eighth in the order, Ewing displayed his top-of-the-order skills in just his sixth MLB game. Through his first 25 plate appearances with the Mets, the 21-year-old is batting .294 (5-for-17) with a triple, a homer, two steals in three attempts, three RBI and five runs, and he has more walks (seven) than strikeouts (five).

  • Mets' A.J. Ewing: Smacks first big-league homer

Ewing went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 9-4 win over the Tigers. Ewing got the Mets' comeback started with a 405-foot blast off Keider Montero to lead off the third inning, his first major-league home run that cut New York's deficit to 3-1. The 21-year-old Ewing has hit the ground running in the majors, going 3-for-9 with two extra-base hits, four walks and a stolen base in his first three games after slashing .339/.447/.514 with two homers and 17 stolen bases across 30 contests in the minors this year.

  • Mets' A.J. Ewing: Batting eighth in MLB debut

Ewing will start in center field and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Tigers, his major-league debut. Ewing was promoted from Triple-A Syracuse earlier in the day after slashing .339/.447/.514 with two home runs, 17 stolen bases and a 22:20 BB:K over 30 games between Double-A Binghamton and Syracuse. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Ewing is "here to play," indicating the rookie will be an everyday player and not a platoon bat, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports. With Luis Robert's (back) recovery going slowly, Ewing has the opportunity to grab hold of the Mets' center field job indefinitely.

  • Mets' A.J. Ewing: Called up to big leagues

The Mets selected Ewing's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. Ewing is set to make his major-league debut as the Mets look to spark a dormant offense. The speedster began the season at Double-A Binghamton and has slashed a combined .339/.447/.514 with two home runs, 17 stolen bases and a 22:20 BB:K over 30 games between Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse. Ewing will take over as the Mets' primary center fielder, at least until Luis Robert (back) is ready to return.

  • Mets' A.J. Ewing: Promotion on tap

The Mets are expected to select Ewing's contract from Triple-A Syracuse ahead of Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. Ewing was promoted to Triple-A Syracuse at the end of April, and with the big-league club off to a 15-25 start to the season, he'll be fast tracked to the major leagues. The 21-year-old hit .326 with three doubles, four RBI, five stolen bases and nine runs over 12 appearances at Triple-A. Ewing could get a crack at taking over as the team's everyday center fielder with Luis Robert (back) having yet resume baseball activities, though Ewing could see time at the corner-outfield spots as well.

  • Mets' A.J. Ewing: Elevated to Triple-A

The Mets promoted Ewing from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. One of the top-ranked prospects in the organization, Ewing has continued running wild at Double-A so far this season while also further refining his plate discipline. After ranking fourth in the minors with 70 steals across three stops in 2025, Ewing went 12-for-13 on stolen-base attempts through 18 games with Binghamton this season. Perhaps more significantly, Ewing raised his walk rate from 5.5 percent over 28 games at Binghamton last season to 21.2 percent in 2026, which helped the 21-year-old to maintain a .349/.481/.571 slash line across 81 plate appearances. Ewing will now receive a stiffer test in the International League, but if he continues to make contact and draw walks at steady clips during his time at Syracuse, he could receive his first big-league call-up at some point in the second half of the season.

  • Mets' A.J. Ewing: More walks than Ks at Double-A

Ewing is hitting .385 with zero home runs, four steals and a 5:8 K:BB in seven games for Double-A Binghamton. The speedy center fielder logged a 133 wRC+ in 28 games at Double-A to close 2025, and he's got a 197 wRC+ early on in a return trip to the Eastern League. While Ewing's defense in center field continues to improve, he has seen two starts at second base this year, so he hasn't completely moved off the dirt. Ewing doesn't have the same slap-hitter tendencies as many speedsters, as he had a 40.3 percent groundball rate and 40.8 percent pull rate in 2025, but his groundball rate has spiked to 57.1 percent in the early going this year.
