Ewing went 1-for-2 with two steals, a run and an RBI in the Mets' 3-2 win in the first game of the twin bill. He'll hit the bench for the second contest of the day while Tyrone Taylor, Luis Robert and Carson Benge start in the outfield from left to right.

Mets' A.J. Ewing: Serves as spark atop lineup
Ewing went 3-for-5 with two runs, an RBI and a stolen base in a 14-3 victory versus Atlanta on Monday.
Ewing led off New York's half of the first inning with a single and came around to score on a Francisco Lindor triple. The rookie outfielder added two more singles and hit a sacrifice fly before the game was over as the Mets rolled in an eventual rout. Ewing has taken over as New York's primary leadoff hitter, batting leadoff in 17 of his past 18 games, and is faring well with a .271/.342/.417 slash line on the season. He's been doing a bit of everything, logging seven homers, 12 steals, 31 runs and 26 RBI through 66 contests.

Mets' A.J. Ewing: Fills stat sheet in shootout loss
Ewing went 4-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 16-12 loss to the Royals.
Ewing launched a two-run homer off Seth Lugo in the second inning before adding an RBI single in the fourth. He swiped his ninth base of the season in the sixth. The four hits established a season high and were more than he had collected from his previous seven games combined (three). Ewing is now slashing .276/.359/.431 with six home runs, seven doubles, one triple, 23 RBI, 24 runs scored and nine stolen bases across 200 plate appearances.

Mets' A.J. Ewing: Swats fifth homer
Ewing went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over Atlanta.
The rookie center fielder took Martin Perez deep in the second inning, Ewing's fifth homer of the season and third in the last 11 games -- a stretch in which he's delivered a .314/.400/.600 slash line with a double, six runs and seven RBI. He's also stolen a base but has been caught stealing three times in that span, leaving him with a shaky 8-for-14 showing on the basepaths since his mid-May promotion.

Ewing will start in center field and bat leadoff in Friday's game versus Atlanta.
Ewing has mostly batted between fifth and eighth in the Mets' lineup since being called up in mid-May, but he will get his first chance in the leadoff spot Friday. Normal leadoff man Carson Benge will bat fifth in the series opener.

The rookie began the game on the bench to avoid southpaw Jesus Luzardo, but Ewing made an impact when he pinch hit for Tyrone Taylor in the sixth inning and took Chase Shugart deep to tie the game at 3-3, before the Phillies reclaimed the lead for good in the top of the seventh. Ewing has hit safely in five straight games, going 8-for-16 with two of his four homers on the year along with a double, a steal, three runs, six RBI and a 3:1 BB:K.

The rookie center fielder has regularly started against left-handed pitching since getting called up by the Mets in mid-May, but he'll receive a day off Sunday versus Jesus Luzardo. Ewing started the previous seven contests and went 8-for-24 with four walks, a double and a homer during that span.

The rookie center fielder swiped his eighth bag of the season, and his first since June 5, in the seventh inning with the game tied 3-3, but he was left stranded and the Mets never scored again. Ewing's enjoying a productive June, slashing .280/.353/.453 over 22 contests with seven doubles, two homers, four steals, eight runs and nine RBI.

Ewing came a triple shy of a cycle Sunday while logging the second three-hit game of his major-league career. The rookie outfielder put the Mets ahead with his RBI double in the first inning before extending the lead to 5-1 in the fifth with a home run, his second of the year, off Bryce Elder. Ewing has gone 13-for-38 (.342) over his last 11 games, boosting his slash line to .267/.339/.381 through 120 plate appearances this season with 14 runs scored, nine RBI and seven stolen bases.

Mets' A.J. Ewing: Two steals in win
Ewing went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Friday's 5-0 win over the Padres.
Ewing has gone 11-for-43 (.256) with five steals over his last 11 games. The outfielder's speed is promising as long as he can get on base enough to use it. He's batting .253 with a .659 OPS, seven steals, one home run, six RBI, 11 runs scored, one double and one triple across 90 plate appearances. The one red flag in Ewing's numbers so far is his 32.2 percent strikeout rate, which could limit his effectiveness if the hits stop falling.

Ewing went 2-for-4 with a two-run single, a steal and a run scored during the Mets' 9-7 extra-inning win over the Marlins on Friday.
Ewing gave the Mets an early 2-0 lead after his single to center field brought both Bo Bichette and Juan Soto home, and Ewing collected a steal and came home to score in the same frame. It was his fourth multi-hit game of the season. Since making his major-league debut May 13 against the Tigers, Ewing is slashing .268/.359/.357 with four steals, one home run and six RBI over 66 plate appearances.
