  • Guardians' Austin Peterson: Sent back down to minors

Cleveland optioned Peterson to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Peterson had been called up Friday and pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts in his major-league debut Saturday. Despite that impressive performance, the righty reliever is headed back to Triple-A to make room in the Guardians bullpen for a fresh arm in Franco Aleman, who was recalled in a corresponding move.

  • Guardians' Austin Peterson: Recalled to big leagues

The Guardians recalled Peterson from Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Peterson was added to the Guardians' 40-man roster last offseason, but this will be his first stint in the big leagues. The 26-year-old has logged a 4.53 ERA and 102:34 K:BB across 95.1 frames this season with Columbus. Peterson will likely be needed to cover some innings during Friday's doubleheader versus the Tigers.

  • Guardians' Austin Peterson: Cut from big-league camp

The Guardians optioned Peterson (triceps) to minor-league camp Friday. Peterson suffered a right triceps strain in late February and will not be ready for the start of the season. Once healthy, he'll be ticketed for the rotation at Triple-A Columbus.

  • Guardians' Austin Peterson: Added to 40-man roster

The Guardians selected Peterson's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. Peterson struggled a bit after being promoted to Triple-A in June, posting a 4.27 ERA and 1.37 WHIP across 90.2 innings compared to the 1.47 ERA and 0.82 WHIP he held in 55 frames at Double-A Akron. The 26-year-old's addition to the 40-man roster will prevent him from being selected in the Rule 5 Draft, but the Guardians will likely keep him in Triple-A to begin the 2026 campaign.
