  • Marlins' Jun-Seok Shim: Shipped to Fish

Shim (shoulder) was traded from the Pirates to the Marlins on Tuesday along with Garret Forrester in exchange for Bryan De La Cruz, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.

Shim was on the Florida Complex League Pirates' 60-day injured list with a right shoulder injury at the time of the trade. A 6-foot-4 Korean righty, Shim has big-time stuff but has been unable to hold up physically. He has 13 strikeouts in eight career innings since signing for $750,000 in January of 2023.

  • Pirates' Jun-Seok Shim: Out with shoulder injury

Shim is on the 60-day injured list for the Florida Complex League Pirates due to a shoulder injury, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

It's not clear what the exact shoulder issue is, but it's serious enough that he has been ruled out for at least two months. Shim dealt with an elbow injury in 2021 and a pectoral injury in 2023, so the durability red flags are starting to mount. When healthy, he has shown a dominant three-pitch mix with excellent size (6-foot-4, 215 pounds), but he has yet to pitch above rookie ball.
