  • Marlins' Chase Jaworsky: Dealt to Marlins

The Marlins acquired Jaworsky, right-hander Ryan Gusto and outfielder Esmil Valencia from the Astros on Thursday in exchange for outfielder Jesus Sanchez, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

Jaworsky, who turned 21 years old Thursday, slashed .242/.353/.359 with three home runs and 24 steals in 57 games at High-A Asheville this season. He is a plus runner and capable defender in the middle infield. Jaworsky is expected to join the Marlins' High-A affiliate in Beloit.

  • Astros' Chase Jaworsky: Available for Wednesday's game

Jaworsky (undisclosed) is listed as an available bench option Wednesday for the Astros' Grapefruit League game against the Mets, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 20-year-old Jaworsky made his spring debut last Friday against the Mets, recording a sacrifice fly in his lone plate appearance in addition to seeing some time at second base. He isn't a serious threat to make the Astros' Opening Day roster, but his involvement in big-league camp is an indication that he's healthy again after he finished the 2024 season on Single-A Fayetteville's 60-day injured list due to an unspecified issue.

  • Astros' Chase Jaworsky: Ends season on IL

Single-A Fayetteville placed Jaworsky on its 7-day injured list Aug. 1 with an unspecified injury and later transferred him to the 60-day IL.

Jaworsky last played July 31 before succumbing to the injury, which ultimately proved to be season-ending. Prior to getting hurt, the 20-year-old shortstop logged 329 plate appearances in the Carolina League, slashing .233/.337.346 with four home runs and 30 stolen bases.
