Teel (knee/hamstring) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Teel will attempt to launch a rehab assignment once again after suffering a sprained LCL while on a previous minor-league rehab assignment in late May. The catcher sustained a hamstring injury during the World Baseball Classic before tacking on the knee issue last month. Teel will have plenty of rust to work off with Charlotte, but he is now on the brink of making his 2026 regular-season debut with the White Sox.

White Sox's Kyle Teel: Nearing return from IL
White Sox manager Will Venable said Friday that Teel (knee/hamstring) will embark on a rehab assignment soon and is working toward returning from the 60-day injured list in the next few days, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.
Levine relays that Teel's hamstring strain has fully healed, and the catcher's right knee strain is close to full recovery. Teel will go on a rehab assignment in the minor leagues in the coming days, and if all goes well, he could be cleared to make his 2026 regular-season debut by late June. His return would mean less reps available for both Edgar Quero and Drew Romo.

Teel resumed running at the end of May, so he has made progress toward a return. However, manager Will Venable stated that none of the drills were being done at a high intensity, suggesting Teel isn't particularly close to returning. Teel progressed to running the bases this weekend, which was the final step of his rehab program before being cleared for game action.
