  • Cardinals' Jesus Baez: Red-hot since promotion to Double-A

Baez is 10-for-25 with five home runs in seven games since being promoted from High-A Peoria to Double-A Springfield.

After struggling in April, Baez has put together a robust .275/.333/.617 batting line with 16 home runs in 41 games since the beginning of May. He's already up to a career-high 19 long balls between the two stops, which is five more than he hit all of last season. Though he's seen most of his action at shortstop, the 21-year-old Baez has also played some second base and third base.

  • Cardinals' Jesus Baez: Power burst in High-A

Baez homered in three straight games for High-A Peoria last week and has gone deep 10 times across his last 22 contests.

Baez got off to a slow start this season with a .672 OPS and three home runs in April. He's perked up since then, posting a .790 OPS with seven long balls in May and a 1.083 OPS with four homers in his first 10 games in June. With 14 home runs on the season, Baez has already tied a career high that he set last season. It's been an encouraging stretch for the 21-year-old Baez, who was acquired from the Mets in last year's Ryan Helsley trade.

  • Cardinals' Jesus Baez: Sent to St. Louis for Helsley

The Mets traded Baez to the Cardinals on Wednesday alongside Nate Dohm and Frank Elissalt in exchange for Ryan Helsley, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Baez has spent most of the season with High-A Brooklyn, where he's slashed .239/.328/.388 with nine homers, 42 RBI, 42 runs scored and seven steals through 293 plate appearances. The 20-year-old infielder will likely remain in High-A upon joining his new organization, though a late-season promotion to Double-A could be on the table.

  • Mets' Jesus Baez: Done for season

Baez (knee) said Thursday that he will miss the rest of the 2024 season, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Baez was placed on the 7-day injured list after undergoing knee surgery in early July to address a torn meniscus. He will now be forced to miss the remainder of the season, finishing his 2024 campaign with a .267 average with a home run, three doubles, four RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base over 30 at-bats in eight games with High-A St. Lucie.

  • Mets' Jesus Baez: Shelved at High-A

High-A Brooklyn placed Baez on its 7-day injured list July 5 with after undergoing knee surgery, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.

According to Mayer, details regarding Baez's knee surgery aren't fully known, making it unclear whether the young infielder required an arthroscopic cleanup procedure or something more significant such as an ACL repair. In any case, Baez's return to game action doesn't appear to be imminent, and his availability for the rest of the season could be threatened. He slashed .267/.313/.467 with one home run and one stolen base in eight games for Brooklyn following his promotion from Single-A St. Lucie on June 24.

  • Mets' Jesus Baez: Bumped up to High-A

Baez was promoted from Single-A St. Lucie to High-A Brooklyn on Monday.

The 19-year-old infielder hit .262 with 10 home runs, eight steals and a 16.2 percent strikeout rate in 64 games at Single-A. Despite the stolen bases on his ledger, Baez has a thick 5-foot-10 frame and is a below-average runner. He figures to end up at third base long term, where his impressive raw power will be his calling card.
