  • Giants' Trystan Vrieling: Dealt to Giants

Vrieling was traded from the Yankees to the Giants on Thursday along with Jesus Rodriguez and Parks Harber in exchange for Camilo Doval, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.

Vrieling has a 4.50 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 42:18 K:BB in 46 innings across 12 appearances at Double-A. The 24-year-old righty has a good curveball and cutter and may fit better in the bullpen long term.

  • Yankees' Trystan Vrieling: Available for spring game

Vrieling (elbow) is listed as an available pitcher on the lineup card for Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Vrieling hasn't made a Grapefruit League appearance and isn't expected to pitch Wednesday either, but his inclusion on the lineup card as an extra arm is an indication that he's fully healthy again as the start of the 2024 minor-league season approaches. The 23-year-old right-hander has yet to make his minor-league debut since being selected by the Yankees with the 100th overall pick in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft. He spent the entire 2023 season on Single-A Tampa's 60-day injured list with an elbow injury before he posted a 5.06 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 10.2 innings over five starts in the Arizona Fall League.

  • Yankees' Trystan Vrieling: Out with elbow injury

Vrieling is on the 60-day injured list at Single-A Tampa with an elbow injury, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.

His velocity was down this spring, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Vrieling sidelined for a lengthy period of time, and surgery could be on the table. The 22-year-old righty pitched primarily as a reliever in college, and the Yankees had him add 20 pounds of strength during the offseason with the plan to build him up as a starter.
