  • Marlins' Karson Milbrandt: Promoted to Triple-A

Milbrandt has been promoted from Double-A Pensacola to Triple-A Jacksonville, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.

Milbrandt was fantastic at Pensacola, posting a 1.34 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 70:17 K:BB through 47 innings to earn a promotion to the Marlins' top minor-league affiliate. With Robby Snelling (elbow) out for the season and Eury Perez (hamstring) and Janson Junk (shin) sidelined, the Marlins' rotation depth is running thin, giving the 22-year-old Milbrandt a chance to debut in 2026 if he pitches well at Jacksonville.

  • Marlins' Karson Milbrandt: Could get call this summer

Milbrandt could be an option to join the Marlins' rotation later this summer, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

The 22-year-old right-hander has dominated to begin the season at Double-A Pensacola, posting a 1.06 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 63:14 K:BB through 42.1 innings, but the organization has been very careful with Milbrandt's workload and has had him pitching just once a week rather than every five or six days. His stuff appears ready for the majors, however -- he's gained velocity since being a third-round pick in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft and now sits in the mid-90s with his fastball while touching the high 90s, and he also works with a plus slider and promising kick-change. The Marlins don't seem inclined to rush him, but he'll need to be added to the 40-man roster this winter anyway, and with injuries piling up in the big-league rotation Milbrandt is positioning himself for a 2026 MLB debut.

  • Marlins' Karson Milbrandt: Not slowed by promotion

Milbrandt has a 1.69 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB in 10.2 innings across two starts for Double-A Pensacola.

Milbrandt emphatically forced a promotion from High-A, as he struck out 26 while logging a 1.17 ERA and 0.85 WHIP in 15.1 innings over his final three starts for Beloit, including a 10-K, one-hit performance over five scoreless innings against a loaded High-A Wisconsin lineup. Long known for his strong stuff and shaky command, Milbrandt's propensity to issue walks is still his biggest weakness, but his stuff has gotten so good that hitters typically can't get much done on their own. He hasn't given up a home run since June 13 and has 80 strikeouts in 58 innings over that stretch. He'll likely spend 2026 refining his command and control across the top two levels of the minors.

  • Marlins' Karson Milbrandt: Healthy again at High-A

Milbrandt (arm) has posted a 3.42 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 58:29 K:BB over 50 innings in 13 starts with High-A Beloit since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list April 17.

Milbrandt was on the shelf for the first two weeks of the season after experiencing fluid buildup in his arm coming out of spring training, but he's managed to stay healthy since being activated. The 21-year-old righty finished the first half of the season on a high note, striking out 11 batters over 5.2 innings in his most recent start Saturday.

  • Marlins' Karson Milbrandt: Shelved at High-A

High-A Beloit placed Milbrandt on the 7-day injured list with fluid buildup in his arm, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.

Milbrandt is expected to return to action sometime in May. The 20-year-old righty logged a 4.33 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 91:57 K:BB in 97.2 innings at High-A in 2024.
