  • Angels' Chase Silseth: Summoned from Triple-A

The Angels recalled Silseth from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

Though he's made most of his appearances in the big leagues the past three seasons as a starter, Silseth transitioned to a full-time relief role at Triple-A in late July after returning from a stint on the 7-day injured list. He's thrived out of the bullpen for Salt Lake, tossing 8.2 scoreless frames while striking out 13 over his last nine appearances. The right-hander will likely be deployed by the Angels in lower-leverage spots initially but could work his way up the bullpen depth chart quickly if he excels early on with the big club.

  • Angels' Chase Silseth: Sent back to minors

Silseth was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

Silseth was recalled Wednesday but will head back to the minors just one day later. He has yet to pitch in the majors in 2025, but he's maintained a 3.50 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with a 41:24 K:BB across 36 innings with Salt Lake.

  • Angels' Chase Silseth: Called up by Halos

The Angels recalled Silseth from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Although Silseth has transitioned to a relief role in the minors this season, he could be used out of the Angels' rotation this weekend against the Cubs while Jose Soriano (personal) is on the paternity list. Silseth last saw major-league action in 2024, when he made two starts and posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over eight innings.

  • Angels' Chase Silseth: Works in relief in return from IL

Silseth (undisclosed) struck out a batter and allowed two hits over a scoreless inning of relief for Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday in his first appearance since being activated from the 7-day injured list Friday.

Silseth has served largely in a starting role at his various stops in the minors and majors since entering the professional ranks in 2021. However, after struggling to a 4.45 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 29:22 K:BB in 28.1 innings over his first seven starts of the season with Salt Lake prior to landing on IL on May 20, the right-hander looks set to work out of the bullpen at the Triple-A level. If he can string together a few quality relief appearances for Salt Lake, he could get a look in the Angels bullpen before the end of the season.

  • Angels' Chase Silseth: In midst of rehab assignment

Silseth (undisclosed) has been working primarily in a relief role for the Angels' ACL club, posting a 5.14 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 12:1 K:BB over seven innings spanning five appearances since July 5.

Silseth landed on Triple-A Salt Lake's 7-day injured list May 20 and missed over six weeks of game action. He began a minor-league rehab assignment with the ACL Angels on July 5 and has worked in relief in four of the five games in which he's appeared. Silseth had one poor outing, giving up four runs in one inning July 21, but has held the opponent scoreless in his other four appearances. He could continue to work in relief when he returns to Salt Lake, per Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register.

  • Angels' Chase Silseth: Shelved at Triple-A

Triple-A Salt Lake placed Silseth on its 7-day injured list May 20 due to an unspecified injury.

Silseth hadn't pitched since May 3 before Salt Lake placed him on the IL just over two weeks later. The 25-year-old righty maintains a spot on the Angels' 40-man roster but has spent all season in the minors after falling short in his bid for a spot in the big club's rotation during spring training. Prior to getting hurt, Silseth had logged a 4.45 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 29:22 K:BB in 28.1 innings over his seven starts at Triple-A.

  • Angels' Chase Silseth: Sent down to minors

The Angels optioned Silseth to Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

Silseth entered camp with a chance to win the fifth spot in the rotation, but he didn't pitch well, allowing 16 runs (15 earned) while walking 10 over 13 Cactus League innings. The competition for the final spot in the Angels rotation is now down to Reid Detmers and Jack Kochanowicz.

  • Angels' Chase Silseth: Rusty in spring debut

Silseth (elbow) allowed four runs (three earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out one batter over 1.1 innings Sunday in a Cactus League contest against Cleveland.

Silseth ended last season on the minor-league injured list and underwent right elbow surgery in early August. He struggled in his first game action this spring, giving up a Steven Kwan solo homer on the first pitch he threw and allowing the following four batters to reach base (though one was due to an Angels error). Silseth was pulled after recording just one out, but under spring training rules, he was allowed to come back out for the next frame and looked much better, retiring the side in order. Still, it wasn't a promising beginning to the exhibition slate for the right-hander, who is competing for a rotation spot this spring. If Silseth is unable to win that battle, he could end up in the big-league bullpen or at Triple-A to begin the campaign.

  • Angels' Chase Silseth: Role uncertain heading into 2025

Silseth (elbow) could compete for the Angels' fifth-starter role during spring training, but he could open the campaign as a reliever or in the minors, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Silseth began 2024 in the Angels' big-league rotation, but he made just two starts before suffering an elbow injury that ultimately landed him on the 60-day IL. The righty did come back to pitch in the minors beginning in early June and made seven starts in Triple-A, but he finished the season on the minor-league IL with continued elbow troubles that required surgery. The procedure wasn't Tommy John, and Silseth is expected to be ready for the start of spring training, but his role for the coming campaign is very much up in the air. Jack Kochanowicz and Reid Detmers may both have a leg up for the fifth spot in the rotation, and while Silseth could be given a chance to compete for that role, he's also a candidate to pitch out of the bullpen or even to open back in Triple-A since he still has minor-league options remaining.

  • Angels' Chase Silseth: Coming to camp as starter

Angels general manager Perry Minasian said Monday that Silseth (elbow) will be stretched out to start during spring training, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Silseth had right elbow surgery in early August, although it seems it was a minor procedure and he should be at or close to 100 percent for the start of spring training. Seventeen of Silseth's 25 appearances at the big-league level have been starts, but he was limited to just 43.1 innings between the majors and minors in 2024 due to injury and could shift to relief, if needed.
