  • Yankees' Carson Coleman: Makes return from 60-day IL

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre reinstated Coleman (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list and assigned him to Double-A Somerset on Wednesday, Matt Kardos of Somerset's official site reports.

The Rangers selected Coleman in the 2023 Rule 5 Draft, but he never made an appearance for Texas in the 2024 season while he recovered from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in April 2023. He was then returned to the Yankees last winter, but he opened the season on Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's IL while he recovered from another surgery, this time for his right shoulder. After completing two separate rehab assignments this season, Coleman has now been reinstated, but he'll bump down a level and join the Yankees' Double-A affiliate. Coleman's next appearance with Somerset will be his first at the Double-A level since 2022.

  • Yankees' Carson Coleman: Returned to Yankees

The Rangers returned Coleman (elbow) to the Yankees on Tuesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

The Rangers selected Coleman in the 2023 Rule 5 Draft, but he never pitched for Texas while recovering from a procedure he underwent on his right elbow in April 2023. Because he never played, he'll now return to his previous organization and will remain without a spot on New York's 40-man roster.

  • Rangers' Carson Coleman: Lands on 60-day IL

The Rangers placed Coleman (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Coleman underwent surgery on his right elbow in April of 2023 and will officially miss the first few months of the regular season as he continues to recover. His 40-man roster spot will be filled by Jose Barrero, who was claimed off waivers from Cincinnati on Saturday.

  • Rangers' Carson Coleman: Chosen in Rule 5 Draft

The Rangers selected Coleman (elbow) during the 2023 Rule 5 Draft on Wednesday.

Coleman sat out the entirety of last season while recovering from elbow surgery, so it's not much of a surprise the Yankees didn't add him to their 40-man roster ahead of the Rule 5 Draft. The 25-year-old had a 2.86 ERA in 35 games at the Double-A level in 2022, and he will need to be up with the Rangers for the entirety of the upcoming campaign in order for the club to retain him.

  • Yankees' Carson Coleman: Out indefinitely at Double-A

Double-A Somerset placed Coleman on its 60-day injured list Thursday after the right-hander recently underwent surgery on his throwing elbow, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.

The nature of Coleman's elbow surgery as well as when exactly it occurred aren't known, but John Brophy of PinstripedProspects.com relays that the 25-year-old will be sidelined for most of the season. Coleman was one of the organization's top relief arms between stops at Somerset and High-A Hudson Valley in 2022, pitching to a 2.13 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 95:19 K:BB while holding batters to a .170 average over 63.1 innings.
