  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Taking seat against Skubal

Canzone is out of the lineup Sunday for Game 2 of the ALDS against the Tigers. After starting and going 0-for-4 in Saturday's 3-2 loss in 11 innings, the left-handed-hitting Canzone will exit the lineup as the Tigers send ace southpaw Tarik Skubal to the bump. Mitch Garver will replace Canzone in the starting nine, serving as Seattle's designated hitter and batting seventh.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Starting Friday after all

Canzone is starting in right field and batting seventh against the Dodgers on Friday. Canzone will enter the Mariners' starting nine after Victor Robles (undisclosed) was scratched from the lineup. Canzone has gone 7-for-19 (.368) with one home run, three RBI and four runs scored over his last six games.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Idle Friday

Canzone is not in the Mariners' starting lineup against the Dodgers on Friday. Even with right-hander Emmet Sheehan on the mound for the Dodgers in Friday's series opener, Canzone will be on the bench for the start of the game while Josh Naylor serves as the designated hitter and Luke Raley gets the nod at first base. Canzone has logged at least one hit in five of his last six games and has a 1.151 OPS with four home runs, 11 RBI and 11 runs scored in 51 plate appearances since Sept. 1.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Recaptures regular role vs. RHPs

Canzone will start at designated hitter and will bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Astros. Though the left-handed-hitting Canzone will likely continue to sit against left-handed pitchers heading into the final week of the season, he appears to have recaptured a regular spot in the lineup versus righties after going 10-for-19 with three home runs, one double, eight RBI and five runs over his past six contests. Seattle has cleared room in the lineup for Canzone by shifting Jorge Polanco -- who had been serving as the team's primary designated hitter -- to second base.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Drives in three runs

Canzone went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 11-2 win over the Angels. Canzone has hit when he's had the opportunity, going 6-for-18 (.333) over nine games in September. He's often been in a bench role as he competes with Victor Robles and Luke Raley for time in right field. Canzone is at a .287/.349/.435 slash line with seven home runs, 24 RBI, 22 runs scored, 10 doubles and two stolen bases over 232 plate appearances this season.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Losing work to Robles

Canzone is not in the lineup for Monday's contest against the Cardinals. Victor Robles will pick up a third straight start in right field since completing a seven-game suspension, and he's been included in the lineup twice against right-handed starting pitchers. The left-handed-hitting Canzone appears to be fading into a reserve role for the Mariners after he had mostly occupied the strong side of a platoon following his promotion from Triple-A Tacoma on June 9.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Canzone is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Padres. After missing more than a week due to a wrist issue, Canzone returned to the lineup for Tuesday's 7-6 loss and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. Though the left-handed-hitting Canzone should be a regular presence in the Seattle lineup against righties now that he's healthy again, he'll take a seat for Wednesday's day game while righty Yu Darvish is on the hill for the Padres. Seattle will turn to Luke Raley in right field.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Returns to Seattle lineup

Canzone (wrist) will start in right field and bat seventh in Tuesday's game versus the Padres. Canzone hasn't played in more than a week due to a left wrist issue that required a cortisone shot. He's feeling well enough to give it a go Tuesday, and as long as his wrist holds up, Canzone should continue to see steady playing time in right field against right-handed pitching.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Available off bench Monday

Canzone (wrist) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres but is available off the bench, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports. Canzone said Monday that he received a cortisone shot in his left wrist a few days ago, which has helped his recovery. Though he'll be held out of the starting nine for a sixth straight contest, the left-handed-hitting Canzone's absence may have more to do with the fact that the Mariners are facing a lefty starter (JP Sears) rather than because of any lingering concern about the health of his wrist. Canzone has slashed .286/.379/.388 with one home run and five RBI in 58 plate appearances since Aug. 1.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Out again Saturday

Canzone (arm) is not in the starting lineup against the Athletics on Saturday. Canzone hasn't played since Monday, when he was removed from a game against Philadelphia after being hit by a pitch on his left arm. The outfielder had X-rays taken, which came back negative, but it's unclear when he'll be ready to play again. When he is healthy enough to be in the lineup, Canzone could face a challenge to his playing time from Victor Robles, who was activated off the 60-day IL on Saturday.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Remaining on bench Wednesday

Canzone (arm) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies. After suffering a bruised left arm when he was hit by a pitch in Monday's 12-7 loss, Canzone will remain on the bench for the second day in a row Wednesday, though the left-handed-hitting outfielder may not have started anyway with southpaw Jesus Luzardo on the bump. Dylan Moore will make another start in right field in Canzone's stead. According to Adam Jude of The Seattle Times, manager Dan Wilson said that Canzone is still managing some swelling on the arm and is considered day-to-day, but Thursday's team off day could provide enough time for the 28-year-old to recover ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Athletics.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Ends power drought in win

Canzone went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and a walk in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the White Sox. The homer was Canzone's first since July 3 against the Royals. He hadn't logged an extra-base hit over his previous 11 games, though he went 7-for-30 (.233) with two RBI and a stolen base in that span. The outfielder is still holding down a starting role in right field despite the recent lack of power. On the year, he's batting .296 with an .851 OPS, seven homers, 16 RBI, 15 runs scored and two stolen bases over 154 plate appearances.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Swats homer in loss

Canzone went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Royals. Canzone brought the Mariners within a run in the ninth inning, though the comeback effort fell short. The outfielder is up to six homers this season, five of which have come over his last 12 games, a span in which he has gone 11-for-40 (.275). He's at a .257/.288/.543 slash line with nine RBI, 10 runs scored and a stolen base across 73 plate appearances. Canzone has been handling a strong-side platoon role in right field since his June 9 call-up from Triple-A Tacoma.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Forces extras Monday

Canzone went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Monday's 8-4 extra-innings loss to the Diamondbacks. Canzone completed a four-run comeback to force extras, swatting his first homer of the season in the ninth inning. The outfielder was on the bench to begin Monday's game, but he could be featured in right field as an option versus right-handed pitchers moving forward while Luke Raley (oblique) remains on the injured list. Canzone slashed .196/.271/.381 over 188 plate appearances in the majors in 2024, but he had a strong .296/.360/.564 slash line with 13 home runs, 36 RBI, 35 runs scored and three stolen bases over 45 games with Triple-A Tacoma prior to his call-up Monday.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Recalled from Triple-A

The Mariners recalled Canzone from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday. Canzone has spent virtually all of this season with Tacoma, where he's slashed .296/.360/.564 with 13 home runs in 45 contests. He should get a shot to play right field against right-handed pitching, at least until Luke Raley (oblique) returns.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Officially recalled from Triple-A

The Mariners recalled Canzone from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday. Canzone will take the spot on the Mariners' 26-man roster vacated by Victor Robles after he was placed on the 10-day injured list due to left shoulder dislocation. Canzone has gone 7-for-13 with four runs scored and two solo home runs over his last three outings with Tacoma, and the 27-year-old will look to carry that momentum into the big leagues. He appeared in 67 games for the Mariners in 2024 and slashed .196/.271/.381 with eight home runs and 17 RBI across 188 plate appearances.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Set to receive call-up

The Mariners are expected to recall Canzone from Triple-A Tacoma prior to Monday's series opener versus the Astros, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Canzone will be joining the 26-man active roster as a replacement for Victor Robles (shoulder), who is headed for the injured list. The 27-year-old Canzone has produced a .861 OPS over eight games with Tacoma this season but struggled during his time in the majors in 2024, slashing .196/.271/.381 with eight home runs and 17 RBI across 188 plate appearances. It's unclear if the Mariners plan to give the left-handed-hitting Canzone regular starts against right-handed pitching, as Seattle could instead deploy a platoon of Luke Raley and Dylan Moore in right field while Robles is on the shelf.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Optioned to Tacoma

The Mariners optioned Canzone to Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday. Canzone didn't put up much of a fight in the race for an Opening Day roster spot, slashing just .209/.244/.395 with three RBI and nine runs scored in 45 plate appearances during spring training. He'll now look to earn his way back to the majors in Tacoma, where he finished with an .888 OPS across 29 games last season.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Loses roster spot

The Mariners optioned Canzone to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. Canzone had started just seven of 18 games since coming off the injured list earlier this month and went just 3-for-26 at the plate over that stretch. With Julio Rodriguez able to play center field again and Victor Robles sliding over to right field, Canzone's playing time was likely only going to dwindle further had he stuck around with Seattle.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Sitting Saturday

Canzone is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Pittsburgh. Southpaw Bailey Falter is starting for the Pirates on Saturday, which will send the lefty-hitting Canzone to the bench to start the contest. Mitch Haniger will start in right field and bat seventh.
