  • Braves' Brooks Wilson: Activated, sent to Double-A

Wilson (elbow) has struck out six while allowing one walk over five no-hit innings across four appearances since being activated from Triple-A Gwinnett's 60-day injured list and assigned to Double-A Mississippi.

While recovering from Tommy John surgery, Wilson didn't make his 2023 debut until mid-June, when he began a rehab assignment at High-A Rome. He was shut down after two appearances, then resumed his rehab assignment Aug. 18 before eventually making his way to Mississippi. Given the way he's performed through his first four outings with Mississippi, a return to Gwinnett could be in the offing.

  • Braves' Brooks Wilson: Shifts to Triple-A's 60-day IL

Triple-A Gwinnett transferred Wilson (elbow) from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Friday.

Wilson has yet to pitch for the Triple-A club this season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he appeared on the cusp of debuting for Gwinnett after he began a rehab assignment in June. However, he made just two one-inning appearances for High-A Rome before being pulled off the assignment and hasn't pitched since his June 18 outing. It's unclear if Wilson suffered a setback with his surgically repaired elbow or if he's dealing with a different injury concern.

  • Braves' Brooks Wilson: Back to minors camp

Atlanta reassigned Wilson (elbow) to minor-league camp Wednesday.

Wilson got an invitation to big-league spring training although he is still recovering from Tommy John surgery that he underwent last spring, and he will now return to the minor-league level. The right-hander will continue to rehab his injury and look to get back on the mound at some point this season. Wilson produced a combined 2.34 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 84 strikeouts over 50 innings between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett in 2021 and could be an option for Atlanta down the stretch if he returns to form in 2023.

  • Braves' Brooks Wilson: Nabs invite to big-league camp

Wilson (elbow) re-signed with Atlanta on a minor-league contract in November and received an invitation to big-league spring training.

Wilson agreed to a new deal with Atlanta shortly after he was non-tendered following the 2022 season. Between stops at Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett in 2021, Wilson submitted a 2.34 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 84:19 K:BB in 50 innings to earn himself a spot on the 40-man roster, but he didn't pitch at all in 2022 after undergoing Tommy John surgery last spring. Given that he's less than a full year removed from the procedure, Wilson is unlikely to be available to pitch in Grapefruit League games and is expected to open the season on Gwinnett's injured list.

  • Braves' Brooks Wilson: On mend from Tommy John surgery

Wilson recently had Tommy John surgery and will miss the 2022 season, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old righty would have likely debuted in the majors this season had he stayed healthy, as he was added to the 40-man roster this past offseason and has experience at Triple-A. He is strictly a relief-pitching prospect and is now on the 60-day injured list.

  • Braves' Brooks Wilson: Optioned to minors

Atlanta optioned Wilson to Triple-A Gwinnett on March 20.

Wilson, who was added to the 40-man roster over the winter, will report back to the affiliate with whom he made six relief appearances to conclude the 2021 season. Between stops at Gwinnett and Double-A Mississippi last season, the 26-year-old right-hander submitted a 2.34 ERA and 1.06 WHIP.
