Seelinger will stick around in the Mets organization after going unclaimed off waivers when he was designated for assignment Wednesday. His stay on the Mets' 40-man roster lasted just one day, with Seelinger losing his spot after yielding seven earned runs in two innings of relief in his MLB debut during Tuesday's 16-12 loss to the Royals.

Mets' Matt Seelinger: Scrubbed from 40-man roster
The Mets designated Seelinger for assignment Wednesday.
The transaction comes one day after Seelinger had a rough showing in his major-league debut, allowing seven runs over two innings in a 16-12 loss to the Royals. Seelinger will join the bullpen at Triple-A Syracuse if he passes through waivers.

The Mets selected Seelinger's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.
The right-hander was acquired from the Tigers in exchange for cash considerations Monday, and the Mets will quickly add him to the big-league roster. Seelinger has a 3.89 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 49:19 K:BB across 39.1 innings at the Triple-A level this year and should fill a low-leverage relief role for New York.

Mets' Matt Seelinger: Dealt to Mets
The Mets acquired Seelinger from the Tigers on Monday in exchange for cash consideration, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Seelinger has turned in a 3.89 ERA and 49:19 K:BB over 39.1 innings this season at Triple-A Toledo. The 31-year-old reliever has not yet pitched at the major-league level but has consistently piled up lots of strikeouts in the minors, boasting a career 31.8 percent strikeout rate on the farm.
