Carson McCusker: Released, headed overseas
The Twins released McCusker on Wednesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
McCusker is expected to sign with a team in Asia, and the Twins will free up a spot on their 40-man roster ahead of the Rule 5 Draft. The 27-year-old went 5-for-29 with a 1:16 BB:K over 30 plate appearances with Minnesota in 2025.

McCusker will join the 28-man active roster as a replacement for catcher Ryan Jeffers (concussion), who was placed on the 7-day injured list. The 27-year-old outfielder has slashed .246/.316/.479 with 22 home runs and five stolen bases in 434 plate appearances with St. Paul this season.

Twins' Carson McCusker: Dispatched to Triple-A
The Twins optioned McCusker to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.
McCusker's latest stint in the majors lasted just one day, and he went 1-for-3 at the plate as the team's designated hitter in Saturday's loss to the Royals. He's gone 2-for-9 with five strikeouts over six contests with the Twins in 2025.

Twins' Carson McCusker: Back with Twins
The Twins recalled McCusker from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday.
Since being sent down to the minors in late May, McCusker has slashed just .165/.244/.357 across 201 plate appearances. Despite his underwhelming performance, he'll rejoin the big club to replace Matt Wallner (paternity) and likely pick up a few starts in right field.

Twins' Carson McCusker: Sent to Triple-A
The Twins optioned McCusker to Triple-A St. Paul after Wednesday's 5-0 loss to Tampa Bay, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
McCusker record his first MLB hit -- a single -- while entering Wednesday's contest as a pinch hitter. After being called up from St. Paul on May 18 to provide depth in the outfield with Byron Buxton and Matt Wallner on the injured list, McCusker logged just six plate appearances. Buxton (concussion) is expected to be reinstated from the IL on Friday in a corresponding transaction.

Twins' Carson McCusker: Set to be called up from Triple-A
McCusker is expected to be called up from Triple-A St. Paul before Sunday's game against the Brewers, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports.
McCusker will take the place of Byron Buxton, who was placed on the 7-day concussion IL on Saturday. McCusker signed with the Twins as a UDFA in 2023 and isn't viewed as a top prospect as a 27-year old playing in Triple-A. However, he's hitting .350 with 10 home runs and a 1.062 OPS in 38 games this year with St. Paul, so he may get a chance to prove he's for real with the Twins having several openings in the lineup due to injury.

Twins' Carson McCusker: Contract selected by Minnesota
The Twins selected McCusker's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.
The 26-year-old will receive his first taste of the majors Sunday after Byron Buxton (concussion) was placed on the 7-day injured list Saturday. McCusker has a .350/.412/.650 slash line with 10 homers through 38 games for St. Paul this year, and he could see some action while up with the Twins given the club's injury situation.

Twins' Carson McCusker: Hot start at Triple-A
McCusker is hitting .329/.398/.671 with seven home runs in 23 games for Triple-A St. Paul.
McCusker isn't seen as a top prospect as a 27-year old playing in Triple-A and without much pedigree as an undrafted free agent. Still, he could get a shot in the majors this summer if the Minnesota offense remains in a slump.
