Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Fans 11 in 14th win
Crochet (14-5) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over seven innings in a 12-1 rout of the Yankees. He struck out 11.
The southpaw struck out double-digit batters for the first time in August and the sixth time in 2025, racking up 31 called or swinging strikes among his 103 pitches (72 total strikes). Crochet has given up two runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts, posting a 2.47 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 63:10 K:BB over 51 innings during that stretch. He'll look to keep building his case for the AL Cy Young Award in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Baltimore.

Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Bounces back against MIA
Crochet didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Miami, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with eight strikeouts across seven innings.
Crochet tied his season high in runs allowed in his last start, but he rebounded with a dominant performance against the Marlins. The lone run attributed to Crochet came in the third inning via a solo home run by Eric Wagaman. Crochet has struck out eight or more in three of his last four starts, and Sunday's outing was his first no-decision in eight appearances. In 25 starts this season, Crochet has a 2.43 ERA and a 196:41 K:BB across 159.1 innings. He's on pace to face the Yankees next weekend.

Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Falters in fifth loss
Crochet (13-5) took the loss Monday, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk over four innings against the Astros. He struck out five.
Crochet struggled Monday, lasting a season-low four innings and matching his season high with five earned runs allowed. The outing hurts the southpaw's Cy Young candidacy, but his overall numbers -- a 2.48 ERA and 1.10 WHIP across 152.1 innings and 24 starts -- still rank him among the American League's top pitchers this season.

Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Won't start this week
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that Crochet won't make his next start until Monday or Tuesday versus the Royals at Fenway Park as part of a workload-management plan, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Crochet had been lined up to pitch Friday's series opener versus the Astros, but the Red Sox will instead break in a spot starter or treat that game as a bullpen day in order to afford the 26-year-old lefty some extra rest. Though he's maintained excellent health throughout his first season in Boston, Crochet is in his second year as a full-time starter and missed all of 2022 and the early part of the 2023 campaign while recovering from Tommy John surgery. As such, the Red Sox are cognizant of not overextending Crochet, even though he hasn't yet shown any signs of wearing down as he closes in on surpassing his innings total from last season (146). The Red Sox haven't indicated that they plan on having Crochet skip additional turns through the rotation over the rest of the season, though that could become more of a consideration if the team fades from playoff contention.

Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Punches out 10 Dodgers in victory
Crochet (12-4) earned the win over the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters over six innings.
Crochet endured a rough first frame, giving up two runs on a pair of solo homers. The southpaw bounced back quickly, however, keeping Los Angeles off the scoreboard for the remainder of his six frames. The All-Star hurler racked up an impressive 20 whiffs en route to 10 strikeouts, marking the fifth time this season he's recorded double-digit punchouts in an outing. Crochet now lead leads the majors with 175 Ks on the campaign, and he ranks fourth among qualified starters with a 2.23 ERA. He's also tied for the league lead with 12 wins while registering a 1.09 WHIP through 141.1 innings spanning 22 starts.
