Mets' Taylor Kohlwey: Receives NRI from Mets
Kohlwey signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training.
Kohlwey got a cup of coffee with the Padres in 2023, going 2-for-13 at the plate, but was non-tendered last month. He'll compete for a reserve outfielder job with the Mets but is likely to head to Triple-A Syracuse at the beginning of the season.

Taylor Kohlwey: Dropped by San Diego
Kohlwey became a free agent after being non-tendered by the Padres on Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The 29-year-old outfielder has appeared in only five career games at the MLB level, all with San Diego during the 2023 campaign. He'll likely have to settle for a minor-league contract on the open market this winter.

Padres' Taylor Kohlwey: Optioned to Triple-A
The Padres optioned Kohlwey to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.
Kohlwey was promoted from Triple-A on July 18 and has since gone 2-for-13 with five strikeouts over five games. He's had better luck in Triple-A, so there's a chance he returns to San Diego as a depth piece if he's able to bounce back in El Paso. Brett Sullivan was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Padres' Taylor Kohlwey: Promoted to majors
San Diego selected Kohlwey's contract from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.
Kohlwey has arrived in the majors for the first time at age 28 after posting an .814 OPS with nine homers and 10 steals in 78 games this season at the Triple-A level. He'll be a backup option at first base and both corner outfield spots.

Padres' Taylor Kohlwey: Beginning year in Triple-A
Kohlwey has been informed that he'll begin the year with Triple-A El Paso, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Kohlwey was considered a potential bench option for the Padres to begin the year, but the 28-year-old will instead head to the Pacific Coast League and likely receive regular plate appearances. With Kohlwey in Triple-A, it appears that David Dahl has won a spot on the San Diego bench to open 2023.
