The Marlins recalled De Los Santos from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.
De Los Santos has had a few cups of coffee in the majors this season, going 3-for-9 with a double while appearing in four games with the Marlins. He could be in for a longer stay with the big club this time around after slashing .286/.359/.700 with nine homers, 18 RBI and 14 runs in 21 games at Triple-A since the beginning of August, though he is still likely to be limited to a bench role. Leo Jimenez was DFA'd in a corresponding move.

Miami optioned De Los Santos to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
After a two-day stint in the majors, De Los Santos will give up his spot on the 26-man active roster to first baseman/outfielder Kyle Stowers (hamstring), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. He'll now rejoin the parent club to give the Marlins extra flexibility at first base while Kyle Stowers (hamstring) is on the injured list. De Los Santos went 1-for-2 with a double in Sunday's win over the Rockies.
The 22-year-old got the start at first base and hit eighth in the order against southpaw Jose Quintana, and he took advantage of the matchup with a two-bagger in his first big-league at-bat of the year. De Los Santos was called up when Christopher Morel (oblique) landed on the IL, but the Marlins have plenty of other options to handle first base, including left-handed hitters Griffin Conine and Liam Hicks as well as the righty-swinging Connor Norby. De Los Santos may be stuck in a short-side platoon role unless he slugs his way into more playing time, something that's not out of the question -- over 156 career games for Triple-A Jacksonville he's launched 24 homers, including one in the Jumbo Shrimp's season opener Friday.
