Dodgers' Gavin Stone: Slowed by biceps issue
Stone (shoulder) hasn't made a rehab appearance for Triple-A Oklahoma City since Aug. 26 due to a minor biceps injury, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.
Stone skipped out on a rehab start this week to recover from the injury, but the Dodgers are hopeful that he'll be able to make another appearance or two at Triple-A before returning from the 60-day injured list. Prior to the biceps issue cropping up, Stone had been magnificent through his first four rehab starts, posting a 1.54 ERA, 0.43 WHIP and 18:1 K:BB in 11.2 innings. Stone's stellar form at Triple-A looked to have put him in the mix to potentially enter the Dodgers' six-man rotation once activated, but the biceps injury makes it more likely that he works in relief if he's activated before the end of the regular season.

Stone (shoulder) struck out five and allowed one hit and no walks over four shutout innings during his rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Though Stone hasn't pitched in the big leagues since Aug. 31, 2024 after undergoing right shoulder surgery in October of that year and then hitting a snag in his recovery earlier this spring, he hasn't exhibited any signs of rust since kicking off his rehab assignment earlier this month. Through four starts at Oklahoma City, Stone has submitted a 1.54 ERA, 0.43 WHIP and 18:1 K:BB in 11.2 innings. The magnificent run at Triple-A in addition to Roki Sasaki's (finger) impending move to the 15-day injured list could clear the way for Stone to claim a starting spot in the six-man rotation or work in bulk relief behind Shohei Ohtani (knee) upon returning from the 60-day IL. Stone, who built up to 58 pitches Wednesday, may need at make at least one more appearance in the minors before the Dodgers consider activating him.

The 27-year-old righty faced just one batter over the minimum, with a first-inning error by first baseman Ryan Ward denying him a perfect outing. Stone hasn't made an appearance for the Dodgers since 2024, undergoing shoulder surgery in October of that year and then experiencing a setback this spring, but he's putting himself in position to help the big club in some capacity down the stretch. He's started all three of his rehab appearances and has posted a magnificent 2.35 ERA, 0.52 WHIP and 13:1 K:BB over 7.2 innings. He's apparently been able to ramp up at the Dodgers' complex in Arizona over the past month without any major issues and will now kick off what will presumably be an extended rehab assignment. Given the Dodgers' ample starting depth, Stone could be preparing for a return to the big club as a multi-inning reliever.

Dodgers' Gavin Stone: Unable to ramp up throwing
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed Tuesday that Stone has been unable to ramp up his throwing without feeling soreness in his surgically repaired right shoulder, Cody Snavely of DodgersBeat.com reports.
Stone was shut down for several weeks after feeling discomfort following his first Cactus League appearance. He resumed throwing in early April at the team's spring training facility in Arizona, but according to Roberts, Stone's shoulder issue "sort of shows itself again" when the hurler attempts to advance in his throwing program. Roberts added Tuesday of Stone that he's "not sure exactly where he's at in this progression," but clearly he is not going to be an option in the majors anytime soon.
