The 26-year-old started the previous eight games, including three against left-handed starting pitchers, but Frelick will head to the bench Sunday as southpaw Carlos Rodon (shoulder) makes his season debut for New York. Frelick struggled to a .226/.273/.323 slash line during that eight-game stretch and has yet to get on track at the plate this year with a .616 OPS through 36 games.

Despite the recent power, Frelick's overall production remains modest, as he's now slashing .211/.311/.333 with three homers, nine RBI and 15 runs scored across 105 plate appearances.

Frelick turned in one of his best games of the season so far, reaching base all four times he came to the plate. Despite the impressive performance, Frelick has struggled in April, entering the game batting .203 with an 8:10 BB:K during the month. Frelick was grimacing in pain after his fourth-inning single in the second game of Saturday's twin bill, and after a visit from the training staff, he exited the contest with what was described as left side tightness. However, the Brewers don't seem to think it's a new injury; Frelick had been dealing with pain in that area coming into Saturday.
