Astros' Hunter Brown: No-decision in pitchers' duel
Brown came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 1-0 extra-inning loss to the Tigers, allowing five hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out six.
Matched up against fellow AL Cy Young contender Tarik Skubal, Brown rose to the occasion as both aces posted goose eggs, with the game's only run crossing the plate in the bottom of the 10th inning. The right-hander produced his 16th quality start of the season on 101 pitches (61 strikes), and Brown has given up two runs or fewer in five straight trips to the mound, posting a 1.50 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 26:10 K:BB in 30 innings over that stretch. He'll look for more run support in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Rockies.

Astros' Hunter Brown: Fires 6.2 strong innings in win
Brown (10-5) earned the win Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing one run on six hits and three walks in 6.2 innings. He struck out four.
It was another strong performance from the All-Star right-hander, who pitched at least five innings while yielding two runs or fewer for a fourth consecutive start. While the four punchouts tied for his second-lowest total of the year, Brown is now up to 10 outings of at least six frames while surrendering one run or no runs in 2025. Brown will take an excellent 2.45 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 164:43 K:BB over 143 frames into his next scheduled appearance, which is likely to come in Detroit against the first-place Tigers.

Astros' Hunter Brown: Stumbles late in no-decision
Brown did not factor into the decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Yankees, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk with five strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
Brown cruised through five scoreless innings before allowing four baserunners and two runs in the sixth, exiting in a 2-2 tie after 89 pitches. The right-hander has surrendered just seven earned runs over four outings since the All-Star break, but he's logged only one quality start during a six-game winless streak. Even so, he still ranks in the top 10 among qualified starters in ERA (2.51), WHIP (0.98) and strikeouts (160) across 136.1 innings. Brown will try to get back in the win column in a home matchup with the Red Sox next week.

Astros' Hunter Brown: Strong effort in no-decision
Brown did not factor into the decision in Friday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Red Sox, allowing one run on four hits and one walk with six strikeouts over seven innings.
Brown opened with six scoreless innings before giving up a run in the seventh, throwing 65 of 97 pitches for strikes while logging his first quality start since July 2. It was a much-needed performance for the 26-year-old, who had allowed 14 earned runs over his previous four outings and hadn't completed five frames in any of his past three. He'll take a 2.47 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 155:39 K:BB across 131 innings into a road matchup with the Marlins next week.

Astros' Hunter Brown: Tagged with tough loss
Brown (9-5) took the loss against the Athletics on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out five across five innings.
Brown entered Saturday's game with a 7.80 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 15 innings over his prior three starts. He was much better against the Athletics, but despite giving up just one run on a Brent Rooker double in the first inning, Brown still came away with the loss as the Astros struggled to generate offense. Brown is lined up to face the Red Sox at Fenway Park next weekend, when he'll look to get back in the win column for the first time since July 2.

Astros' Hunter Brown: Lasts just four innings
Brown didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Mariners, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts across four innings.
Brown didn't pitch into the fifth inning for the first time this season, continuing his recent stretch of poor play. In his last three starts, Brown has allowed 13 runs with an 18:7 K:BB across 15 innings. He had allowed 21 runs in his first 104 innings of the season. Overall, he has a 2.57 ERA and a 144:36 K:BB. He'll look to get back on track during his next start, which is slated to come against the Athletics.

Astros' Hunter Brown: Another sub-standard start
Brown (9-4) took the loss Sunday against Texas, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out eight.
Brown has allowed four or more runs in back-to-back starts -- something he had done just once in his first 17 appearances of 2025. Four of the five hits he surrendered Sunday went for extra bases. He'll look to rebound after the All-Star break, but even with the cold spell, Brown owns a stellar 2.43 ERA and a 137:34 K:BB across 115 innings.
