  • Joe Rizzo: Cut by Tigers

The Tigers released Rizzo on Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Rizzo was traded to Detroit from Miami in June, and he has since slashed .299/.358/.518 with six homers and 28 RBI in 151 plate appearances at Triple-A Toledo. Despite his impressive run, Rizzo will now enter the open market and should be able to latch on with another team fairly easily.

  • Tigers' Joe Rizzo: Traded to Detroit

Detroit acquired Rizzo from the Marlins on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations.

Rizzo has been assigned to Triple-A Toledo and will not occupy a spot on the Tigers' 40-man roster. He was the 50th overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft but is now 25 years old and has posted a relatively underwhelming .262/.334/.388 batting line across 672 career minor-league games.
