Scott allowed a run on three hits and struck out three in one inning to earn the save in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Nationals.
Scott's shaky pitching continues -- he's allowed five runs over his last 8.1 innings, though he's still converted five of six save chances in that span. He needed 17 pitches (14 strikes) to get the job done Saturday for his 21st save of the campaign. Scott has a 2.67 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 70:12 K:BB through 57.1 innings. He's pitched three of the last four days, so he may be rested Sunday even if a save chance is available.

Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Works eighth inning, suffers blown save
Scott took a blown save against St. Louis on Wednesday, when he allowed one run on one hit in one inning.
With the Dodgers clinging to a one-run lead in the eighth, manager Dave Roberts turned to Scott to face the heart of the Cardinals order. The lefty reliever gave up a leadoff double to Joshua Baez, and though Scott retired the following three batters, Baez came home to score the tying run on a sacrifice fly. The blown save was Scott's first since July 6 -- he had gone 8-for-8 on save chances while allowing only four runs over 18.1 frames spanning his past 20 appearances before Wednesday. Despite being deployed in the eighth inning against the Cardinals, Scott remains Los Angeles' top closing option in the absence of Edwin Diaz (neck), who is slated to initially work in lower leverage upon his eventual return.

Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Snags save No. 20
Scott struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his 20th save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Tigers.
The southpaw reliever had been stuck with a loss in his previous two appearances, but Scott bounced back with a dominant effort in which he fired eight of 13 pitches for strikes. He's converted four straight save chances since Edwin Diaz (neck) landed back on the IL, and with manager Dave Roberts having already announced that Diaz will initially be used in low-leverage situations once he returns, Scott's latest stint as the Dodgers' closer could extend well into September. On the season, Scott has produced a 2.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 67:12 K:BB through 55 innings.

Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Surrenders walk-off single
Scott (1-5) took the loss Wednesday against Atlanta, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.
Scott entered the ninth inning of a tie game and retired the first two batters before Lane Thomas doubled to put the winning run in scoring position. Los Angeles elected to intentionally walk Austin Riley before Ha-Seong Kim ended the game with a walk-off RBI single. It marked Scott's second consecutive loss after he also surrendered the winning run Tuesday. Outside of those two appearances, he has allowed just two runs across 13.2 innings in the second half. Scott struck out one in a clean ninth inning to earn the save Saturday against the Pirates.
Back in the closer role for the Dodgers with Edwin Diaz (neck) sidelined, Scott has successfully converted three straight save appearances since Tuesday. Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Diaz will handle a low-leverage role once he returns from the injured list, so it sounds like Scott has a real chance to retain the ninth-inning gig for the remainder of the regular season. The hard-throwing left-hander boasts a 2.24 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 64:11 K:BB over 52.1 innings, collecting 19 saves (21 attempts) and 12 holds.

Scott picked up a save for the second day in a row, confirming that he'll be the primary closer for the Dodgers while Edwin Diaz (neck) is on the injured list. Scott was able to strand the automatic runner at second base in the 10th inning to earn his 18th save of the year. Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Grabs four-out save
Scott allowed one run on two hits and failed to record a strikeout or walk over 1.1 innings to earn the save in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Rockies.
Scott inherited a mess from Evan Phillips in the eighth inning but was able to get out of it. In the ninth, Scott gave up a run but maintained the lead to record his 17th save of the season. Edwin Diaz (neck) is back on the injured list after struggling mightily for a couple of weeks following his return from an elbow injury. Scott has had plenty of success in the closer role this year, and he's allowed just two runs over 11.2 innings since the All-Star break, collecting four saves and six holds in that span. If Scott continues to pitch well in the closer role, the job could be his even when Diaz is healthy again. Overall, Scott has a 2.32 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 62:11 K:BB across 50.1 innings this season as one of the Dodgers' most reliable relievers, regardless of role.

Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Moves back to setup role
Scott allowed one run on two hits and struck out one batter over one inning in a 4-2 win over Seattle on Wednesday.
Scott had recorded a save in 10 of his previous 15 outings while serving as Los Angeles' closer, but Edwin Diaz was activated off the IL on Wednesday and ended up registering a save with a one-run ninth inning. Scott instead handled the eighth and gave up a run on a pair of hits (a double and a single), though his outing could have been worse if not for a highlight-reel catch by Teoscar Hernandez in left field. Scott has been stellar overall this year with a 2.47 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 56:6 K:BB over 43.2 innings, and he could still get occasional save chances when Diaz is down or when matchups call for the Dodgers to go to a left-handed reliever; however, for the most part, it appears Scott will primarily work in a setup role moving forward.

Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Can't convert save Monday
Scott blew a save against the Rockies on Monday, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two batters over one inning.
It wasn't a particularly intimidating situation for Scott, who entered in the ninth inning with Los Angeles holding a three-run lead against the team with the second-worst record in the majors. Still, the veteran lefty was unable to put Colorado away, giving up a trio of runs on two doubles, a single and two walks (one of which was intentional). It could have been even worse for Scott, but replay overturned a play at the plate on what was initially ruled the go-ahead run for the Rockies. The blowup followed a strong stretch during which Scott converted seven straight save opportunities while posting a 1.64 ERA and 17:0 K:BB over 11 innings spanning 12 appearances. With that in mind, he should remain Los Angeles' primary closer for the time being, though that will likely change when Edwin Diaz (elbow) returns, which is expected to happen shortly after the All-Star break.
