  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Snags steal in return

Robles went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Saturday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Athletics.

Robles saw his first big-league action since April 6, making his return from a shoulder fracture. He was off to a hot start at the plate prior to the injury, but he likely won't have much time to build momentum in the near future, as he's still facing a 10-game suspension for throwing his bat at a pitcher during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma. Robles can continue to play until MLB rules on his appeal, and he figures to see time in right field while Dominic Canzone (arm) is bothered by an injury. Should Robles' suspension begin before Canzone is healthy, Luke Raley would likely be next in line for playing time in the corner outfield.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Activated off IL, suspension looms

Seattle activated Robles (shoulder) off the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Robles had been on the shelf since early April due to a small fracture in the humeral head of his left shoulder. He has been rehabbing with Triple-A Tacoma and batted .310 with a home run, nine RBI and two stolen bases during the eight-game rehab stint. While Robles has now been activated off the IL, he's still facing a 10-game suspension for throwing his bat toward a pitcher during the rehab assignment; however, because Robles' appeal hasn't yet been ruled on by MLB, Robles is able to play and is expected to be in Seattle's lineup against the Athletics on Saturday, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. Dylan Moore was designated for assignment Saturday to make room for Robles on the 26-man active roster and 40-man roster.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Handed 10-game suspension

Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that Robles received a 10-game suspension for throwing his bat in a Triple-A rehab game Sunday, and he is expected to appeal the ban, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Robles has gone 5-for-15 with two doubles during the rehab assignment, but he was also hit by three pitches before the inciting pitch that struck him Sunday, which was ruled a strike since he swung the bat. The suspension, whether it remains at 10 games or is reduced, won't begin until the outfielder is activated from the injured list. The Mariners will have to play a man down during the ban, so the club seems likely to wait until MLB rosters expand Sept. 1 before reinstating Robles.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Gets ejected from rehab game

Robles (shoulder) went 0-for-1 in a rehab game Sunday with Triple-A Tacoma before he was ejected from the game in the third inning.

Through the first five games of his rehab assignment, Robles has gone 5-for-15 with two doubles, two stolen bases, four RBI and two runs, but his return from the 60-day injured list may be further delayed by his actions in Sunday's contest. During his third-inning plate appearance, Robles took exception to an inside pitch by Las Vegas right-hander Joey Estes and threw his bat in the direction of the pitcher, which resulted in Robles' immediate ejection. Robles later apologized for throwing the bat in a post on his personal Instagram account, but he could still receive a suspension for the incident. The 28-year-old has been on the injured list since April 7 due to a small fracture and separation in his left shoulder and is expected to require about 40-to-50 at-bats during his rehab assignment before the Mariners activate him.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Set for rehab assignment

Robles (shoulder) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Aug. 12, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Robles, who has been out since early April, is ready to make the next big step towards a return to action. Starting the rehab assignment Aug. 12 may place the outfielder ahead of schedule, but the Mariners are targeting 40-to-50 at-bats before he is activated off the injured list. The 28-year-old will likely get a mix of playing time in the outfield and as a designated hitter as he returns to game action in Triple-A Tacoma.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Hits on field Wednesday

Robles (shoulder) hit on the field Wednesday for the first time since getting injured, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Robles is also throwing out to 150 feet, and the next hurdle for him to climb in his rehab will involve diving and sliding. Although it's encouraging to see that the 28-year-old outfielder has resumed swinging with both hands, he's still not expected to be cleared to return from a dislocated left shoulder until September at the earliest. Until Robles is healthy, Dominic Canzone and Dylan Moore should continue to make up a platoon for at-bats in right field for the Mariners.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Partially resumes baseball activity

Robles (shoulder) has started playing catch and swinging a bat with his right hand, per MLB.com.

After working through the strength-building portion of his recovery from a dislocated left shoulder, Robles has now partially resumed baseball activities. The 28-year-old outfielder still isn't expected to return until September at the earliest, but it's encouraging to see he's progressing in his rehab. Dominic Canzone has taken over as Seattle's primary right fielder in Robles' stead, and J.P. Crawford should continue to serve as the club's everyday leadoff man for the time being.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: On track in rehab

Robles (shoulder) may advance to baseball activities before the end of July, but he is not expected back before September, MLB.com reports.

Robles began the strength-building portion of his rehab from a dislocated left shoulder in early June, which is expected to last around six weeks before he advances to light baseball activity, and as of June 30 Robles was on track in his rehab. If he avoids setbacks, the strength-building portion of his rehab could conclude in mid-to-late July, at which point he should be able to advance to baseball activity. It's not an exact timeline, as there could be setbacks or Robles could advance quicker than expected for the Mariners, but September has been mentioned twice during the process as an expected return date.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: May return in September

Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Tuesday that Robles (shoulder) may not return until September, Tim Booth of the Seattle Times reports.

Robles had a scan on his shoulder that revealed it is healing properly. His timeline will entail six weeks of rest, six weeks of strengthening and the possibility of resuming baseball activities in July. While the righty will start strengthening his shoulder soon, his expected return to the major league roster may not come until September.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: May avoid surgery

Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Friday that Robles' shoulder is healing as hoped and the 27-year-old outfielder could avoid surgery, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Robles suffered a small fracture in the humeral head of his left shoulder in early April, which was severe enough for him to be transferred from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday. The good news for Robles is that he is healing enough that surgery may not be necessary, making a mid-summer timeline for his return feasible. He was slashing .273/.283/.341 with three stolen bases and three RBI in 46 plate appearances before his injury.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Moved to 60-day IL

The Mariners transferred Robles (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Casey Lawrence, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Tacoma. Robles' timeline for a return won't be affected by the move, as he's not expected back from his fractured left shoulder until around midseason.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Likely out 12 weeks

Robles was diagnosed with a small fracture in the humeral head of his left shoulder after an MRI on Tuesday and is expected to be sidelined at least 12 weeks, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

The injury was caused by the shoulder dislocation that he suffered while making a leaping catch into the wall/netting Sunday against the Giants. It appears Robles won't require surgery, but the injury is expected to need six weeks to heal before he can begin a six-week rehab program. Dominic Canzone was added to the big-league roster when Robles was placed on the injured list, but it was Luke Raley that received the start in right field Monday versus Houston.
