Orioles' Tyler O'Neill: Placed on 10-day IL
The Orioles placed O'Neill on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to Sunday, due to right shoulder inflammation.
As expected, O'Neill will be shelved for an extended period of time due to a right shoulder injury that he sustained while making a diving catch against the Rays on Saturday. Pete Alonso could see additional reps as the designated hitter for as long as O'Neill is sidelined. A minimum stint on the IL would have O'Neill back with the big club Sept. 2, though a clearer return timeline will be established once he recovers enough to participate in baseball activities.

Orioles' Tyler O'Neill: Expected to go on IL
O'Neill relayed Wednesday that he expects to be placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right rotator cuff strain, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports.
O'Neill sustained the injury while diving for a catch during Saturday's 3-2 win over the Rays. A move to the IL means the veteran outfielder won't be available to play until at least early September, though the Orioles will get a better sense of O'Neill's return timeline once he's cleared to resume baseball activities.

Manager Craig Albernaz said that O'Neill is dealing with right shoulder soreness and is set to get an MRI on Tuesday evening, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

O'Neill gave the Orioles an insurance run in the eighth inning Tuesday. O'Neill hasn't played since April 8, as he initially missed time with an illness before fainting from dehydration and suffering a concussion. Prior to his time on the injured list, O'Neill slashed .241/.353/.345 with one home run, four RBI, six runs scored and a 3:6 BB:K across 34 plate appearances.
