Bellinger plans to decline his $25 million player option for 2026 and become a free agent, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.
Bellinger opting out of the final year of his deal and hitting the free-agent market this winter has been a foregone conclusion for a while now, as the 30-year-old is in line to net a lucrative, multi-year pact. He slashed .272/.334/.480 with 29 home runs, 98 RBI and 13 stolen bases over 152 games in 2025 while playing plus defense at multiple positions. Having previously received a qualifying offer, Bellinger is not eligible to get another one, which will only enhance his free-agent appeal.

Bellinger was spotted limping after Thursday's game against the Red Sox due to a left foot injury, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Bellinger received treatment for his foot injury Thursday night, but he told reporters he expects to be in the lineup for Game 1 of the ALDS. He went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the Yankees' series-clinching win over Boston.
Bellinger went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 10-5 win over the Twins.
Bellinger blasted his 29th big fly of the year, putting him on the verge of the second 30-homer campaign of his career and his first since his 2019 National League MVP season. The veteran outfielder is on the cusp of recording a 100-RBI season for the second time in his career as well, as he's up to 97 RBI in 2025. Bellinger has also been a five-category contributor for fantasy managers, batting .275 with 81 runs scored and 12 stolen bases over 553 at-bats to go with his strong power figures.
Bellinger went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 12-2 loss to the Tigers.
The 30-year-old slugger took Casey Mize deep in the fourth inning to give the Yankees a brief 2-0 lead before the wheels began to come off. Bellinger is up to 28 long balls on the season as he marches toward his first 30-homer campaign since 2019, and over his last 20 games he's slashing .333/.398/.615 with six home runs, 14 runs and 17 RBI.
