Angels' Jose Urena: Effectively wild in no-decision
Urena didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Twins, allowing one run on four hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out three.
The journeyman right-hander threw only 36 of 71 pitches for strikes before getting the hook and put runners in scoring position in three of his four frames, but Urena was able to hold the damage to a James Outman solo shot in the third inning. The Halos haven't indicated that they intend to switch to a six-man rotation, so Urena will likely return to a long-relief role despite his success with his MLB record-tying fifth big-league team of 2025. Over two appearances and nine innings for the Angels, he's posted a 1.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB.

Angels' Jose Urena: Drawing spot start Wednesday
Urena will start Wednesday's game against the Twins, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
The Angels have decided to give Urena a spot start so that their regular rotation members can have some extra rest. Urena struck out six over five scoreless frames in an extended relief outing last Friday versus the Athletics in his first appearance for the Halos. Unless the Angels decide to switch to a six-man rotation down the stretch, Urena will likely shift to long relief after Wednesday's outing.

Angels' Jose Urena: Inks deal with Halos
Urena agreed to a major-league contract with the Angels on Sunday.
The right-hander elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Twins last week, but he was able to find another home in the majors. Urena had made 13 appearances (five starts) with four different MLB clubs this season and has a 5.00 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 20:13 K:BB over 36 innings. After placing Tyler Anderson (oblique) on the injured list Sunday and optioning Jack Kochanowicz to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday, the Angels have two open spots in the rotation, and Urena is a good bet to fill one of those slots during the team's upcoming series in Kansas City.

Jose Urena: Elects free agency
Urena elected to enter free agency after clearing waivers Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Urena was designated for assignment by the Twins on Friday, one day after being tagged for six runs and a loss in a spot start against the Athletics. Rather than sticking around in the Twins organization as a depth arm at Triple-A St. Paul, Urena will enter free agency and look for an opportunity elsewhere. He's appeared in 13 major-league games (five starts) with four teams this season and has accrued a 5.00 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 20:13 K:BB across 36 innings.

Urena was tagged for six runs on seven hits and two walks across five innings in Thursday's loss to the Athletics. On the season, Urena has a 5.00 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 20:13 K:BB across 36 innings of work with four teams. The Twins booted Urena from the 40-man and 26-man rosters in order to make room for Mick Abel's expected promotion ahead of Saturday's start.

Twins' Jose Urena: Tagged for six runs in loss
Urena (0-1) took the loss Thursday against the A's, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three.
All six of the A's runs of Urena came in the second inning, when the right-hander allowed six consecutive men to reach base with two outs. The veteran Urena had been pitching well for the Twins prior to Thursday, allowing just three earned runs over 12.2 innings in his first three appearances. Overall, Urena sports a 5.00 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP and 20:13 K:BB across 36 innings between the Twins, Dodgers, Blue Jays and Mets this year.

Twins' Jose Urena: Receiving start Thursday
Urena is slated to start Thursday's game against the Athletics at Target Field.
After tossing 5.2 scoreless innings in bulk relief in his most recent appearance last Friday against Detroit, Urena will pick up his third start as a member of the Twins in the series finale versus the Athletics. Urena has pitched in the majors with four different teams in 2025, logging a 4.06 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 17:11 K:BB in 31 innings across stops with the Mets, Blue Jays, Dodgers and Twins.

Twins' Jose Urena: Mops up in bulk relief
Urena struck out three and allowed two hits and one walk over 5.2 scoreless innings of relief in Friday's 7-0 loss to the Tigers.
With the Twins trailing 6-0 with one out in the third inning and runners on second and third, Urena was called upon in relief of opening pitcher Pierson Ohl to put out the fire. Urena induced a sacrifice fly to allow one run to score, and then got Colt Keith to line out to end the frame. Urena proceeded to retire 14 of the next 17 batters he faced to save the Minnesota bullpen and perhaps set him up for another starting opportunity or bulk-relief appearance next week while the Twins continue to lean on a three-man rotation at the moment and fill in the gaps as needed until two of Pablo Lopez (shoulder), Simeon Woods Richardson (illness) or David Festa (shoulder) return from the injured list. Urena had previously made a three-inning start in his most recent appearance last Sunday versus the Royals before shifting to the bullpen.

Twins' Jose Urena: Set to start Sunday
Urena is slated to start Sunday against the Royals at Target Field, Phil Miller of the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Urena will make a second straight turn through the rotation after he started last Sunday versus Cleveland and gave up two runs over four innings. The right-hander could have a longer leash versus Kansas City, but his poor ratios on the season (5.24 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, 7.1 K-BB%) over stops with four different teams render him a poor streaming option.

Twins' Jose Urena: Solid outing in win
Urena made his first start for the Twins and did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over four innings against the Guardians. He struck out three.
Urena was a late replacement for Simeon Woods Richardson, who had his start pushed back due to an illness. Urena isn't likely to get another turn in the rotation, but he could be used as a bulk reliever or in an opener role, as the Twins' rotation and bullpen remain in flux after the team traded away five relievers Thursday.

Twins' Jose Urena: Drawing start Sunday
Urena will start Sunday's game against Cleveland, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
The 33-year-old righty will be filling in for Simeon Woods Richardson, whom the Twins will give a few extra days of rest before his next start. Urena has pitched to a 5.40 ERA and 1.53 WHIP across 18.1 innings between the Dodgers, Mets and Blue Jays this season, and he'll likely aim to get through three or four frames Sunday before turning the game over to Minnesota's bullpen.

Twins' Jose Urena: Added to 40-man roster
The Twins selected Urena's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.
Following the Twins' fire sale at the trade deadline, Urena will head to the majors and give the team an arm capable of starting or pitching in long relief. The Twins will be Urena's fourth team this season after he pitched with the Mets, Dodgers and Blue Jays already in 2025, logging a 5.40 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB across 18.1 innings.

Dodgers' Jose Urena: Set to lose 40-man roster spot
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Monday's 8-6 extra-inning win over the Padres that Urena will be designated for assignment prior to Tuesday's contest, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Urena made two appearances after signing with the Dodgers, allowing one run over three innings out of the bullpen. The veteran right-hander has already pitched for three different clubs this season and could draw interest from a fourth looking for swingman depth.

Dodgers' Jose Urena: Joins Dodgers on MLB deal
Urena signed a one-year major-league contract with the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Urena was DFA'd by Toronto on Saturday after turning in a 3.65 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 12.1 innings with the team. He opted for free agency upon clearing waivers and will now join forces with Los Angeles to help out a Dodgers bullpen that has been decimated by injuries. Will Klein was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move, and Chuckie Robinson was designated for assignment to clear a 40-man spot for Urena.

Jose Urena: Signing with Dodgers
The Dodgers are expected to sign Urena prior to Tuesday's game against the Mets, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
The deal isn't official, but Heyman says Urena is on his way to Los Angeles and will be in uniform for the second game of a four-game series versus the Mets. Urena has allowed 10 runs with an 8:4 K:BB over 15.1 innings between the Blue Jays and Mets this season and will give the Dodgers some length in the bullpen.

Jose Urena: Becomes free agent
Urena elected to become a free agent Monday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Urena went unclaimed on waivers after the Blue Jays removed him from their 40-man roster, and the veteran hurler has decided to test out free agency rather than accept an outright assignment to the minors. He's allowed 10 runs with an 8:4 K:BB over 15.1 innings between the Blue Jays and Mets this season.
