  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Limits Cubs in no-desicion

Anderson didn't factor into the decision against the Cubs on Friday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings.

The left-hander did well to limit the damage, with his only runs coming on a first-inning solo homer from Kyle Tucker and a sacrifice fly in the third. While Anderson didn't pitch deep into the contest, he kept Los Angeles within striking distance and turned in one of his steadier outings of late. The 35-year-old had struggled over his previous six starts, posting a 6.67 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 19:15 K:BB across 29.2 innings during that stretch, so Friday's effort represented a modest step in the right direction.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Shaky command in return

Anderson (2-8) allowed four runs on three hits and five walks while striking out one over four innings to take the loss versus the Athletics on Saturday.

Anderson essentially got skipped in the rotation when back stiffness forced him to miss his scheduled start Tuesday. He wasn't that sharp in his return to action -- he's now walked five batters in two of five starts since the All-Star break. In that span, he's surrendered 18 runs over 24.2 innings while adding just 16 strikeouts. Anderson is at a 4.77 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 98:52 K:BB through 126.1 innings over 24 starts. The southpaw is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Cubs.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Cleared to start Saturday

Anderson (back) is slated to start Saturday's game against the Athletics in Sacramento.

Anderson was initially lined up to make his 24th start of the season during Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Dodgers, but he was scratched ahead of the contest due to back stiffness, which has been a recurring issue for the southpaw throughout the season, according to MLB.com. A few extra days of rest was apparently all Anderson needed to at least temporarily move past the back issue, and he's not expected to face any major restrictions when he takes the hill Saturday.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Won't start Tuesday

Anderson has been scratched from Tuesday's scheduled start against the Dodgers due to back stiffness, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Anderson is presumably headed for further testing to determine if the injury will force him to the IL. Victor Mederos will be recalled to start Tuesday's game in Anderson's place.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: No-decision vs. Tampa

Anderson did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Rays, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out five.

Anderson was done in by the home-run ball again Wednesday -- all four of Tampa's runs off the left-hander came via the long ball, including two off the bat of Junior Caminero. Anderson's given up eight homers across 14.2 innings in his last three starts. He remains without a win since April 18 and sports a 4.63 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP and 97:47 K:BB through 23 starts (122.1 innings) this season. He's currently lined up for a tough home matchup with the Dodgers in his next outing.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Allows four runs in defeat

Alexander (2-7) took the loss after throwing six innings, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five, during Friday's 6-3 loss to the White Sox.

Alexander had a solid outing, allowing just five hits and four runs, but the left-hander once again had an issue keeping the ball in the ballpark. Three of the five hits the 35-year-old allowed were home runs, and he's now allowed at least one home run in five straight starts and 23 total home runs on the season, the second-most in all of MLB behind Zack Littell's 25 homers. Alexander is scheduled to face the Rays at home his next time out.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Yields two homers Saturday

Anderson allowed two runs on six hits and struck out one without walking a batter over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Saturday.

Anderson exited the game at 88 pitches (62 strikes), as it appears the Angels didn't want him to face the heart of the Mariners' order a third time. This wasn't a poor performance for the southpaw, but he allowed solo home runs to Julio Rodriguez and Randy Arozarena, making this Anderson's sixth start allowing multiple homers this year. It's also the third time he's avoided walking a batter, but he fell short of the five-inning mark for the fourth time in 10 outings since the start of June. Anderson has a mediocre 4.41 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 87:44 K:BB across 112.1 innings through 21 starts overall. He's tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the White Sox, though Anderson is in the last year of his contract and may be moved prior to Thursday's trade deadline.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Concedes four runs in no-decision

Anderson did not factor into the decision in Monday's 7-5 loss to the Mets. He allowed four runs on four hits and five walks over six innings with four strikeouts.

The Los Angeles southpaw was solid through his first six innings, allowing just two runs on a Brett Baty homer in the fourth. Anderson then unraveled in the seventh, allowing the first two batters to reach before being removed after 87 total pitches -- reliever Reid Detmers subsequently allowed both inherited runners to score. This marks the fifth time in his last seven outings that Anderson has yielded three or more runs, as he now sports a 4.43 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 86:44 K:BB across 107.2 total frames. The 35-year-old will make his next start in the Angels' upcoming home series against Seattle this weekend.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Settles for no-decision

Anderson didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks, giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three.

The Angels gave Anderson a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but the veteran southpaw immediately handed it right back in the top of the second. He left the mound after 84 pitches (54 strikes), and Anderson will head into the All-Star break with his rotation spot potentially hanging by a thread -- he hasn't picked up a win since April 18, and over eight starts since the beginning of June, he's stumbled to a 5.75 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 36:15 K:BB over 40.2 innings.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Falters late in loss

Anderson (2-6) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Sunday, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts over five innings.

Anderson yielded two runs in the fourth inning and was pulled in the sixth after allowing three straight hitters to reach base, including what proved to be the game-winning single. The southpaw was coming off six scoreless frames Tuesday, but he's now surrendered three earned runs or more in seven of his past 10 outings. He'll take a 4.19 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 79:37 K:BB across 96.2 innings into a tough matchup with the Diamondbacks next weekend.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Fans seven in six scoreless innings

Anderson didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing four hits and two walks in six scoreless innings. He struck out seven.

The soft-throwing left-hander kept the Atlanta batters off balance throughout his outing, producing 15 whiffs en route to matching a season high in punchouts. It was also Anderson's first scoreless appearance since April 18 and his first quality start since May 27. The veteran southpaw will take a 4.12 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 77:35 K:BB over 91.2 innings into his next scheduled start against the red-hot Blue Jays, who are hitting .289 versus left-handed pitching since and including May 28.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Inefficient in no-decision

Anderson allowed a run on two hits and two walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Anderson fell short of completing five innings for the third time in five starts in June. While this was arguably his best start of the month, he was pulled at 82 pitches (51 strikes), which shows there was a bit of inefficiency involved. The southpaw is now at a 4.41 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 70:33 K:BB through 85.2 innings over 16 starts. Anderson is projected to make his next start at Atlanta.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Drops third straight

Anderson (2-5) took the loss Thursday against the Yankees, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.

The Yankees got to Anderson early, scoring a run in the first inning before tacking on three more in the second thanks to back-to-back homers from Trent Grisham and Paul Goldschmidt. The 35-year-old Anderson has now dropped three straight starts while struggling to a 7.07 ERA in his last seven outings. Overall, his ERA sits at 4.56 with a 1.40 WHIP and 65:31 K:BB across 15 starts (81 innings) this season. Anderson will look to get on track in his next start, tentatively scheduled for next week against the Red Sox.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Struggles in defeat

Anderson (2-4) took the loss after working five innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out four during Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Orioles.

June has not been kind to Anderson so far, as he failed to pitch into the sixth inning for the third straight start, allowing a season-high six runs in the process. Over those three starts, the 35-year-old has gone a collective 14 innings, allowing 14 runs on 24 hits and five walks. It doesn't get much easier for Anderson moving forward, with his next start scheduled against the Yankees.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Can't complete five innings

Anderson (2-3) took the loss Sunday against Seattle, allowing three runs on eight hits and one walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Anderson yielded three doubles on the day and failed to make it through the fifth inning, getting pulled after throwing 94 pitches. He allowed seven or more hits for the fourth time in his last five starts while owning a 6.57 ERA, a 1.79 WHIP and an 18:10 K:BB over 24.2 innings during that stretch. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to occur next weekend at Baltimore.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Struggles to no-decision

Anderson took a no-decision after surrendering five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five in 4.1 innings of work during Monday's 7-6 win over the Red Sox.

It has to feel like Anderson missed an opportunity. His team put up six runs before he even took the mound for the first time, but he didn't quite make it through the five requisite innings to qualify for the win and let the Red Sox back in the game in the process. The 35-year-old did keep the ball in the ballpark during Monday's start, just the fourth time in 12 starts that he was able to do so. Anderson's next scheduled start will come against division-rival Seattle at home.
