The Athletics released Wieland on Wednesday. Wieland did not find much success with Triple-A Las Vegas, recording an 8.16 ERA and 2.13 WHIP across 32 innings. The 33-year-old righty could receive another minor-league contract elsewhere, but his poor performance makes it unlikely he reaches the majors anytime soon.
